Good morning friends, and welcome back to my blog.
Today I bring you to discover a very important tourist and relax center in Italy: the town of **Grado**. It's a small town located in the **province of Gorizia**, with fewer than 8,000 inhabitants, but it's a popular summer destination.
It's actually a lagoon encompassing about 30 islands, where the **climate is always pleasant**. In summer, temperatures reach a maximum of 30°C, and in winter, they never drop below 0°C. For this reason, it has earned the nickname "**Island of the Sun**".

Oggi vi porto alla scoperta di un centro turistico e termale molto importante in Italia: la cittadina di **Grado**. Si tratta di un piccolo comune situato nella **provincia di Gorizia**, con meno di 8000 abitanti, ma che in estate è un’attrazione per molti turisti.
Si tratta, in realtà, di una laguna che comprende circa 30 isole, dove il **clima è sempre piacevole**. In estate si raggiungono i 30 °C al massimo, e in inverno non scende mai sotto lo 0 °C. Per questo motivo si è guadagnata il nome di “**Isola del Sole**”.
From a historical perspective, the island of Grado is truly fascinating. Early evidence suggests that **civilization developed around the 1st century BC**, and we can find some Roman archaeological remains from that era.
Subsequently, Grado became part of the **Republic of Venice** and, for a brief period, also part of the **Austrian dominions**. This inevitably marked the island's history, making it a crossroads of different cultures.
Grado also played a key role during the **First World War**, as it hosted a naval base.
Dal punto di vista storico, l’isola d Grado è davvero molto interessante. Le prime testimonianze ci dicono che la **civiltà si sviluppò intorno al I secolo a.C**. e possiamo trovare alcuni reperti archeologici romani di quell’epoca.
Successivamente, Grado entrò a far parte della **Repubblica di Venezia** e, per un breve periodo di tempo, anche dei **domini austriaci**. Questo segnò inevitabilmente la storia dell’isola, rendendola un crocevia di culture diverse.
Grado ebbe un’importanza fondamentale anche durante la **Prima Guerra Mondiale**, in quanto ospitava una base della marina militare.

Since 1936, Grado has been accessible by car, thanks to a **swing bridge** connecting it to the mainland.
In Grado, we find several monuments and places of interest. The symbol of the city is undoubtedly the **Basilica of Sant'Eufemia**, of early Christian origin. The interior is very simple but impressive.
We also find other places of worship, such as the **Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie** and the sanctuary of the Madonna di Barbana.
Dal 1936 è possibile raggiungere Grado in auto, grazie al collegamento con la terraferma attraverso un **ponte girevole**.
A Grado possiamo trovare diversi monumenti e luoghi d’interesse. Il simbolo della città è sicuramente la **Basilica di Sant’Eufemia**, di origine paleocristiana. L’interno è molto semplice, ma d’effetto.
Troviamo anche altri luoghi di culto, come la **Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie** e il santuario della Madonna di Barbana.

All these monuments I have described are located in the oldest part of the city, called **Grado Vecia**.
I was fortunate enough to visit Grado in relax, having the entire day at my disposal. This also gave me time to visit the beautiful **National Museum of Archaeology**, with artifacts that testify to the island's history.

Tutti questi monumenti che ho descritto si trovano nella parte più antica della città, che si chiama **Grado Vecia**.
Ho avuto la fortuna di vistare Grado con calma, avendo a disposizione l’intera giornata. Così, ho avuto anche il tempo di visitare il bellissimo **Museo nazionale di archeologia**, con i reperti che testimoniano la storia dell’isola.
