The lovely atmosphere of Gorizia Castle

ENG Dear Hivers, Welcome back to my blog. If you've been following me for a while, you probably already know that **I adore the atmosphere of castles**. I love the idea of visiting ancient and mysterious places, where illustrious **kings and queens** have lived in the past centuries. The castle's inhabitants have long since passed away, but the walls are still intact and can tell many stories. The castle today is the **ancient heart of Gorizia**. It sits on a hill overlooking the city, and from the top you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

ITA Cari Hivers, Bentornati sul mio Blog. Se mi seguite da un po’, probabilmente sapete già che **adoro l’atmosfera dei castelli**. Mi piace l’idea di visitare luoghi antichi e pieni di mistero, dove negli scorsi secoli hanno vissuto illustri **re e regine**. Gli abitanti dei castelli sono morti da un bel po’, ma le mura sono ancora integre e possono raccontare tante storie. Il castello di oggi è il **cuore antico di Gorizia**. Si trova su una collina che domina la città, e dall’alto si può godere di un panorama mozzafiato sulle montagne del Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

The walk to the castle takes about **20 minutes**, starting from the historic city center, and is very evocative because it has a decidedly medieval appearance. The **castle's appearance today is not its original one**, as many changes have been made over the centuries. The castle served as a residence, but also as a prison and a war fort!

La passeggiata al castello dura circa **20 minuti**, partendo dal centro storico della città, ed è molto suggestiva perché ha un aspetto decisamente medievale. L’**aspetto che vediamo oggi del castello** non è quello originale, perché nel corso dei secoli sono state fatte molte modifiche. Il castello è servito da abitazione, ma anche da prigione e da fortino di guerra!

The castle's interior is **richly decorated**, and there is an entire room dedicated to **musical instruments**. This aspect really fascinated me! Violins and cellos of all sizes, a veritable museum. The **weapons section** is also very well-curated, with some examples of medieval lances and revolvers.

Gli interni del castello sono **molto decorati** e c’è un’intera sala dedicata agli **strumenti musicali**. Questo aspetto mi ha molto affascinato! Reperti di violini e violoncelli di tutte le misure, un vero e proprio museo. Anche la **parte dedicata alle armi** è molto curata e ci sono alcuni esempi di lance medievali e rivoltelle.
