NaNoWriMo? Nope... NaNo-Something-Else!

November was historically the month of NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month.

Unfortunately, the initiative shut down earlier this year, "officially" due to financial difficulties, but also largely due to issues surrounding "how to handle AI writing."

Another one bites the dust, underscoring how certain aspects of the written word are headed towards obsolescence. Honestly... I get it, as I have been headed towards obsolescence as a writer and editor, myself.

It still begs the question "Why do we have AI to do our writingm compose our music, and creat our art, but we have no AI that's washing our dishes or folding our laundry?"

Still strikes me as the reverse world, in terms of what makes sense. But the world generally doesn't make sense. So there's that...

Our own @traciyork used to moderate Hive's own version of NaNoWriMo, in the form of a month-long blogging challenge... but the community appears to have faded away to nothing. Traci seems to be gone, as well...

So what is this post even about?

Well, I'm not going to undertake a writing challenge, because I tend to fail rather spectacularly at those!

But since we've been in financial dire straits for a really long time, and I loathe the feeling that goes with that, I have decided to undertake a November of more than doubling the size of my eBay store for stamp collectors.

That means adding 1,000 new items (give or take), or 33 a day, on average. Which is essentially a pain in the rear, and way more than I normally would undertake.

Chances of actual success is probably pretty low... but I also have to deal with the fact that the current scale of my business is simply not large enough — any more — to provide the needed income.

The plus side to this equation is that I already have the inventory sitting in boxes and envelopes, so at least I don't have to go out and purchase anything to make this happen.

Why bother?

More than anything, as a means to avoid ending up with a "Pauper's Thanksgiving." What has been looking somewhat in the cards, given our current trajectory.

It's also a bit of a test for my ADHD brain... and it's likely that I'll go way over on some days, and not be able to bring myself to do anything on others... so "averaging" works for me.

I only just decided to start this today, so Day 1 is already a ZERO, but Day 2 (today) added 37 items, so there was a slight catching up.

I just hope this will be enough to make a tangible difference in our world...

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead!
