Sunday was Andrea's birthday. She is a friend of my youngest son; they went to school together, and I became friends with her mother. So they invited me to the birthday party.
To be honest, I thought it would be a quick and short event. I was also surprised when I received the invitation. But Andrea's mother welcomed me warmly and talked to me, as did María (her eldest daughter).
I went with the intention of letting my children have some fun and interact with other children.
At first, they were all over their dad and me. Then the children at the party, almost all of whom are family, went out into the street to play with the birthday girl and her brother.
I watched what they were doing, then decided to let my children go out into the street to play with them. After all, that was part of my childhood, and sometimes that's what we want our children to do.
They ran around and enjoyed playing with several children. The party was very well organized, with plenty of snacks, soft drinks, and even hot dogs. There was a small piñata that all the children enjoyed, as well as party favors.
Everything was very nice, and the children played and had fun, which is what matters.
I am grateful to Jetsi for the invitation.
