Meeting locals is always more fun
A few weeks ago we figured out that @ace108 has some time to show us European travelers a bit of the not so touristy part of Singapore. See more at his post about our meetup
This said, we found each other for a evening with a walk and some food.
He was a very nice host and you will see more within this post.
Hey Hive Family _let us travel the world again_ _today Singapore_
Hivians at dinner
Spending time together with some food and some talks.
The Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre
We visited this place and normally I might just skipped the building as it doesn’t look so interesting. But this different view is what you learn from others, as my European judgment has other “filters”.
As a traveler, I must say that the Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre in Singapore is a true culinary haven. Nestled in the heart of Chinatown, this bustling food center offers a delightful blend of local flavors and cultural experiences.
The location itself is rich in history, reflecting Singapore's multicultural heritage. The complex is housed in a distinct red-bricked building that exudes charm and character, a nod to its past as one of Singapore's first wet markets. Today, it stands as a vibrant hub for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of Singaporean cuisine.
As you enter the food center, the aroma of various dishes fills the air, beckoning you to explore its offerings. From savory delights like Hainanese chicken rice and char kway teow to tantalizing desserts like ice kacang and pandan chiffon cake, the diversity of dishes available is simply astonishing. This evening it wasn’t full but a lot local people stayed there for dinner.
Our Food
One of the joys of visiting Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre is the chance to interact with the local hawkers who passionately prepare their dishes with generations-old recipes. They often share stories of their culinary heritage, adding to the overall experience and making the visit even more memorable.

The atmosphere is lively and energetic, with a constant stream of locals and tourists alike, all eager to savor the delicious fare. Finding a seat might require a bit of patience during peak hours, but the shared dining experience fosters a sense of camaraderie among diners.
My conclusion
The visit with a local Singaporean to the Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre is a must-visit destination for any food lover exploring Singapore. It's a place where you can taste the authentic flavors of the city while immersing yourself in its rich cultural tapestry. So, do yourself a favor and indulge in the delightful culinary journey this place has to offer!
Check the price of the drinks as my Tigers 🐅 seem to be a bit more expensive as all the fresh made drinks at the shops.
Tigers
Suddenly some Tigers 🐯 show up to help us with some liquid with all the food.
