Hello, friends especially foodies!
Recently when my boyfriend and i were visiting blok M area, he took me to visit one of a quite hype small restaurant to try one menu that made us curious, ala Indonesian Pad Thai.
Like the name of the restaurant PAD MIE SIRAM, or if you translated it became Pad Noodle in Gravy.
The restaurant was modest, located in the floor below the lobby and you could see the chefs cook our order, right next to the cashier table. Look at how big was the fire used to cook!
First thing to do there is ordering at the cashier table. The menu that this restaurant had
For main dish, they had Noodles like - Chicken Pad Thai - Chickan Pad Thai in gravy - Shrimp Pad Thai - Shrimp Pad Thai in gravy - Red chicken noodle - Red chicken noodle in gravy
Rice like - Shrimp fried rice - Shrimp fried rice in gravy - Chicken fried rice - Chicken fried rice in gravy
For ala carte dishes, they had - Oyster sauce shrimp - Oyster sauce chicken - House mayo crispy shrimp - House mayo crispy chicken - Stirred beansprout and tofu - Stirred cauliflower and tofu - 5 seconds tofu - Fried meatballs in gravy
For beverages, they had - Rose vanilla iced tea - Kawista iced tea - Mint mango iced tea - Original 5 seconds coffee - Sweet iced tea - iced tea
Weirdly they put other menus that had no pictures below the beverages menu: - Dumplings - Meatballs - Fried meatball - Padangnese sauce chicken - Padangnese sauce shrimp - Shewmay - Shrimp capcay
After had ordered and paid, we looked for a table. Quite crowded even not at dine time, yes, it was around 3pm. We of course already had had lunch before churching then we wanted to try the noodle there, for snack time. The restaurant had open concept restaurant, so modest. They used wooden tables and metal chairs.
Not a long time of waiting, finally we got our ALA INDONESIAN SHRIMP PAD THAI in GRAVY. Here how it looked
The red sauce was padangnese sauce which they recommended to be served separately with the noodle.
Now, i give it a try.
Well, the noodle was a typical that soft but chewy and it had small diameter.
The original flavour of the noodle was savory. With small amount of shrimp, crashed peanut and chopped scallion. I don't like beansprout so i ordered the noodle without it. By the way, the peanut brought some crispy texture to the noodle, unique!
Let me try their gravy sauce. I put it over my noodle.
Now it had gravy looks.
The red sauce they said padangnese sauce, it brought sweet, sour and a bit spicy flavour to the noodle.
Overall, we think that the noodle was just okay because we couldn't find any special flavour in it, only like ordinary noodle with gravy sauce. But give a try to fusion food is okay, especially when it take the local flavour in it, like this noodle... combining thai and indonesian, the idea is great!
