Ok maybe the fat cat above is too much for it, but I think he is cute enough to be my image model lol.

In modern era, our world believes that we should have some standards, whether it is for beauty, health, and lifestyle. In some region, such as South Korea, getting a plastic surgery is a common practice, because being ugly is like a crime there. I read that some girls even feel ashamed of having parents that unable to pay some surgeries that could make them look prettier.

If some people believe being ugly, or maybe we should say not attractive or not good looking can be considered shameful, and closing down their future, the same spirit could imply on being fat. There are many cases that fat people face some harsh criticism and discrimination in their daily life.

Talking about being fat. In some society due to some modern culture, people tend to see fat people as irresponsible individuals, shameless and unable taking care their own body due those kind of standards. Well in my opinion there isn't one ideal type of body. so to which extend should a standard be applied? I believe none and I do believe there are many people who agree with this opinion.

Being Fat Is Not A Crime

If someone is fat, it is not because that person is lazy or lack of self control. That person has a health issue, where his body accumulates more fat than burns those fat. In fact some people are completely healthy but tend to look chubby or a bit fat, because that's their body type, genetically they tend to be fatter than others.

When you put thinner body or slim body as a standard, it is not like I against that, but the fact that we can not ignore is that many achieve their body thin and slim through unhealthy way, like excessive workout, taking slimming medicine such as fat burner and others, and some even undergo surgery, from liposuction and Bariatric surgery (cutting down or bypassing your digestion system).

I am aware that I can not go against those surgeries entirely, It is not because they are bad, they have high risks and could bring serious long term impact on your body. If people have to undergo those surgeries for their health, then it is. But what I have seen more often is that people taking them to achieve a body that fits the social standard. Is it worth doing it for the shake of being slim and thin?

This being fat issue currently is more like a mental health rather than a biological health issue. Rather than worrying of the potential health risk from being fat, such as diabetic and cardiovascular issue, people are more afraid of the social judgement. Getting bullied, targeted as jokes, and many abusive behavior such as body shamming making the fat people shame of their own body and have lower self esteem.

This is the time and the opportunity we start to promote body positivity. Body positivity is a social movement about being positive and accepting all kind of bodies. It doesn't matter how big or small their body, their race, skin color, physical disabilities or what gender you are. It is about encouraging self love about your own body and limiting the harm of social standards which set idealism about how your body must be.

We need to build and nurture a culture of respect. Everywhere we are, maybe in schools, in offices or workplaces, and even in our own family, sometime we talk about our bodies. It is to challenge discrimination coming from the social body standards. All bodies are normal, we are what we are, in form of our own beauty. So whoever we are, whoever they are, we should supports everyone.

Being fat is not a fault, it is not a crime. Whether fat, slim, or anywhere in between, every body is a good body. In the end everyone deserves to live with confidence, love, and respect.

Ok that's for today sharing, Thanks for reading this writing and see you next time.
