Greeting Everyone
There is a new traits in Splinterlands card which is called a Bloodline. Bloodline means like a race, so our units and archon will be categorized by element and bloodline. So Bloodline can exist cross element.
For you who are new to this game, this might be confusing, and for you who are a returning players, some of you might think this is not that important, just an extra bonus.
Well I was like that before. I ignored this new feature and kept playing as I had played before. Just enjoyed the game as I used to, until last season. Why last season? Because last season I started to buy Conclave Arcana units which have ability related to their Bloodline.
Although I like Splinterlands a lot, I am not a hardcore Splinterlands player who drill a big hole on my wallet just to buy all items here in berserk mode. I try to enjoy this game with all the limitation I have, so if one day all hell broke lose, I could leave this game with a great memory behind.
But due to that too, I need more time to adapt and adopt new cards and gameplay.

So it started by getting this Swiftbeard Stout. This card in a glance is like a dumb card.... He has taunt but he has no defensive traits that support him. Seriously a taunt on a unit with 7 health point with no armor? From older players perspective, this is a mess up.
But let's see the good side. He has a new ability, Bloodline Tribute, which will grands all allied units with the same bloodline some boost... +1 health, +1 speed, +1 armor and +1 attack power... So it's like having a martyr with different mechanism.
Ok I take this one as a big mana martyr then...
This becomes easier to understand, he is a taunting martyr, although I open to more possibility in the future of other meta related to this ability.

Now here is the challenge I have. I only have 5 Dwarfs. I know there are other dwarfs out there, but this is the dwarfs playable for Fire element, as this Swiftbeard Stout is a fire element units.
So let's try to mix some line up first to see whether this is really can work well or not. I do not want to chase up more dwarfs and turn out to be a flop meta. I know if I have a big budget, I could do all max level and this could lead up to a great meta, but I know where my feet at.

It will not a good Splinterlands post if we don't employ in a battle, right?
I like this battle because it has everything that I have. I put in two reward cards, a promo card, two conclave arcana edition cards and a foundation cards. My summoner is from the Rebellion edition card. So everything are there LoL
From this set up I realize one thing that is very important. Most Dwarfs are not melee units. So deploying Swiftbeard Stout is a risk move, because you will end up losing a unit very fast, he is our new martyr style isn't he?
Losing a unit in a line up full of range units is not quite wise. However it could be a great advantage because your opponent will think the same and expect you won't do that.
And one thing to be noted here that it is hard to pick a strong drawf tank. I choose not to employ Grimbardun Fighter because I feel Mana Warden could perform better as for the supporting second line melee hitter behind that Drybone Megalodon. Another consideration is the mana cap too.

My opponent choose Cavewise Wayfinder. It is a good units, strong indeed but he is suicidal with his reckless ability. I do not like reckless ability, I can not say it is useless because most units which have it are strong, but it's just not my preference.
As Expected, my Swiftbeard Stout dies instantly in this round.

Let see what happens after Swiftbeard Stout dies, I have two dwarfs with each 3 range damage, and a Mana warden having 4 melee damage. 10 Damage from my Angry Dwarf squad!!

And round 3 everything ends... Good Game
It becomes a very short battle because of the angry dwarf squad I have in my line up. I see the potential of Bloodline Tribute, however the challenge is on the melee units. I still need to build up a good tank and secondary tank.
In this battle, I win easily because my opponent do not use a proper tank. Maybe he thinks I will use some sneak attacks or opportunity attack, not like this which all gang ho to the front line. it is quite a dumb move anyway, however mostly work because my opponent think no way their opponent will use this dumb move LoL.
So currently I will stop adding more dwarfs in my collection first. I see this one has a potential but it won't work for a small pennies. I need to call some expensive dwarfs from Rebellion Edition. There is a chance that maybe in the next edition there will be some good dwarf melee units, but who knows?
