Howdy Splinterlands Summoners
Welcome to my Splinterlands engagement challenge post. In this week, every summoners are sharing their hidden gems. There are many hidden gems here, from your secret meta, secret combo, secret cards or anything.
Personally I do not believe any hidden gems is exist in Splinterlands. We have thousands of players here, so if you play this game everyday, you will get some idea of what you overlook.
If I have to pick one, which it is our topic anyway, I will pick a lame card here, well not lame actually but I see not many people like to use this card. However it is one of my favorite in Death Element. I am not using this card frequently, but when I put him in, I frequently get a good result.
The card I have been talking about is Meriput Slinger. I have made a post about how good he is in the past. He is a good speed debuffer, he makes all opponents' speed drop with his slow ability. He has impede ability will make his target lose 1 speed everytime Meriput Slinger hits them.
However it is funny not many people really into this card. Maybe I have a weird taste of favoring non mainstream meta, or odds one. I know maybe in later stage, he doesn't grow fast anymore. But still I see this one not as something very strong, but his existance could change the whole flow of a battle.
Ok I think that's all I could say about Meriput Slinger. I share two of my battle below as reference, and some words to strengthen my opinion about this one.
The First Battle Reference
Ok this is the first battle I am sharing here. My team is a bit unique, due to Nighoggr summoner I bring in. Nighoggr limits my max number of the units I could bring, so like it or not it will be 5 vs 6.
These three becomes my backbone, the DPS team. You can see Meriput Slinger can stand side by side on par with Night Reaper and Barashkukor. Nighoggr buffs these three with 2 speed and execute abilities, I feel like blast is not the only way to settle things.
These magnificent trio make their first move and all of them manage to kill their target. This battle is a short one because on the second round, my trio will kill my opponent's remaining 3 units.
I do not have to tell you guys how strong Night Reaper and Barashkukor are, especially Barashkukor. He could eliminate most of opponent in one go if he gets that execute ability. But this battle shows us that Meriput Slinger can follow those two monsters.
So why shouldn't I say Meriput Slinger is a monstrous one too?
The Second Battle Reference
Now we come to the second battle. This time I do not have Nighoggr so you can not blame any superior summoner as the sole reason of my victory. I do not have Night Reaper too, so this battle should be run more equally.
Anyway my opponent and my team have more or less similar levels, none of us out leveled the other in a significant gap. My Barashkukor has one level higher, but that's only a unit, it should not be a decisive factor.
Honestly, when the battle starts, I see and feel that I just come with the wrong team. The gap between our attack damage is too much. All of my opponent's units are heavy hitter. In my team, Only Barashkukor and Meriput Slinger who can hit well, the rest are girlies.
However the funny thing is that I win the first round. Well it is not a big margin, but still I kill their tank first before I lose my main tank.
My team seems to settle everything on the round 3, however you can see their Barashkukor is getting stronger due to Life Leech ability. so I think it is not the right moment to celebrate early victory.
This time on round 4 my team manages to settle everything. Do you know how I win this battle? two puny cards decide the flow, the first one Silverleaf Warlock with his swiftness ability, it adds +1 speed to all my units. The second one is Meriput Slinger with his slow ability. Ultimately these two create 2 speed gap and that leads my team to victory.
Meriput Slinger is not one monstrous card that would dictate the flow of a battle. But he fits in many meta, he works well with others and create speed gap that not visible in the beginning, but later becomes the decisive point which decides who is going to win the battle.
Do I manage to convince you that Meriput Slinger is entitled to be called a hidden gem?
