Hello there, welcome to my Splinterlands post.
Today I want to make my post a bit different. Instead of sharing some of my experience freely, I decide to join up Splinterlands community challenge with a topic of Underdog Victory!
Underdog victory is a situation where we share our victory which the battle has gone very hard because we are the weaker team. Of course by saying this, it means I will share a battle that I have won it.
Before I go further, I want to share something that most players understand but they tend to forget about it. Nobody, I mean no one wants to come with a weaker team intentionally. We play to win right? we want to win, so we build up a team or a line up which has meta that could leads us to victory.
So if by happens our team is weaker and becomes an underdog, it is unintentional condition. For a casual player like me, this condition mostly happen due to... MONEY LoL... Let's be frank here, I can not spend massively in games, so my cards tend to be something that exist, not something at max level and bound to win.
So we should always remember this... none wants to be on the weaker side!
So this is the battle, I name this battle as Silver League vs Diamond League battle. First, do not see our summoners only. I tend to rent a high level summoners, and most of my summoners are at diamond league level. However my units are not at that level. I want to say they haven't reached it yet, but I prefer to be honest here... I tend to have useful teams, not max level must win one.
3 of 6 units in my line up are soulbound cards, or let say they are the free rewards. I pay nothing to get them, let say half of my team are freebies. Nothing to be ashamed about, because my opponent does the same. Half of his team are freebies too, but their level are on different condition.
Check out these pair. Let go first with the soulbound, both of us use Thanalorian Blade. Their Thanalorian Blade is on level 4 and mine only level 2. Then check our gladiators, they have Katrelba Gobson almost at maximum level, while my Quora Towershead is on level 3 only.
However the most worrysome thing is not only the level gap, but their unit... They have this RAGE!
I rarely win against RAGE. It is not because it is strong, RAGE is more like OVER POWER card. They put 16 mana as requirement to limit the usage of this RAGE, and when it comes out, usually the player has already prepared everything and can leave the rest on this card.
RAGE can be easily killed with GIANT KILLER ability, but I do not have any of my units with GIANT KILLER ability. And This RAGE is on level 3, I do not need to talk a lot here, just look at he image above and tell me, do you think it can be killed easily?
This is a no joke condition, however I am confident with my line up because I have this 3 silly cheaply cards in my team
This is the first card, Virid Venomancer from Conclave Arcana edition. I bought her with less than $4, at level 5. What I expect from her is simple, to give Quora Towershead a Shield ability.
I hope she could deliver a poison ailment to my opponent tank, however she dies first due to her low health. They have Thanalorian Blade, and she keeps aiming the lowest health unit which by happen is this Virid Venomancer.
My second unit is this Boring Hobgoblin from Conclave Arcana edition. Same as Virid Venomancer, this card is cheap, I bought him at level 5 around the same price, around 3.5 USD. This is one of the cards that I have difficulty to use, however I have a feeling that he is the right choice for this battle.
The right choice? because he has that silence ability. My opponents are mages, so by only exist in my line up, he reduces 3 magic damage per round, which becomes an integral part in my meta as the main debuff unit.
The last, the one that stands the most behind, and the most important one in my team. Quilliun Legionary, which is a freebie so no need to talk about price tag for this dude. He is one of my favorite in this rebellion rewards edition.
He manages to kill Katrelba Gobson with his thorn ability. he is the natural counter for Katrelba Gobson, and if I do not bring him in my line up, I might lose badly because Katrelba Gobson will reck all my backline units.
To think about this, I rely my team on a 7 dollars team, of course I exclude the summoner for this part, and that 7 dollars team will face off against RAGE which has hundreds dollar price tag... yet my team levels are way below them...
Guess what? My team is winning LoL
Let's fast forward to round 9, shall we?
Amazingly on round 9 my team manages to seal the victory. After a long round of struggles, we manage to killed their backline units and now it become 1 vs 5. This is the condition I have my max confident that QUORA TOWERSHEAD, the Warrior Queen, won't lose to any units in head to head slugfest, and to count her other 4 teammates behind supporting her.
Am I that smart to counter my opponent, or it is just his bad luck somehow his meta got countered badly? Whatever it is, I win, that what matters most right!
