Games you can only play once #3 / I didn't like this one

We've tested two games so far that play in a few minutes and then "lock out" and you can't start a game.

I thought it was a peculiar way to develop a game, considering that most developers extend them so they can be played almost endlessly.

But this could be the first of these games that I didn't love too much, I didn't like, and I'm a relatively easy person to please. If it entertains me or makes me discover something new, then rest assured that your game will do something for me.

But Unmanned didn't do that, even though its premise was fun. We're a drone engineer who pilots some of these missile-laden drones with the goal of destroying enemies, but we also get to play the pilot's everyday life.

From the start, I struggled to understand what I was supposed to do. Everything is super slow: shaving, smoking, talking to someone...

And yes, I understand that the idea is to show the protagonist's routine life, but the truth is, it got boring. I was hoping something would happen at some point that would captivate me, and that moment never came.

When I got to the character's job (piloting military drones), I thought, "Okay, this is where the fun starts." But it didn't. What you basically do is click and that's it.

It's supposed to be powerful because it shows how cool a ranged kill can be, but it ultimately feels like just another mechanical action in an already slow experience.

And while I understand the message, as a player, it felt too flat.

I don't expect every game to have explosions or frenetic action, but I at least want to feel like I'm making progress or that my decisions make a difference. In Unmanned, the choices are so subtle they're almost unnoticeable, and in the end, all I was left with was a sense of having wasted my time.

Perhaps some might find it "deep" or "thoughtful," but in my case, it didn't convey anything beyond boredom. I finished it more out of curiosity than real interest, and when I turned it off, I didn't think about anything; I was simply relieved to have it over.

I wouldn't recommend it, because more than a different experience, for me it was a boring and boring experience, perhaps because I'm not much of a fan of graphic adventures. Some might like it because of its subject matter, but personally I wouldn't play it again.

I've already played the three games I had set my sights on so far. You can find them all on Newgrounds and play them completely free. In some cases, it won't take more than 10 minutes to complete them.

That's what I would recommend, which is pretty good considering that many of these games are made by new, smaller developers. Hey, even I'm keen to create one considering how easy it is.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, SEE YOU
