The photo shows houses in the city center of Kristiansand, Norway. This area is called «Posebyen». It is the oldest part of town and has Northern Europe's largest collection of old, wooden houses. The houses you see to the right are a row of the old wooden houses. They are among the houses that survived the big city fire in 1892. When the rebuilt the houses, they started to use bricks and concrete. When all the houses are built of wood and very tightly, a fire caused great destruction. Even though there has been several fires, we still have quite an amount of houses in Posebyen, which is a major tourist attraction in Kristiansand.
