In June this year I was back in Stavanger to visit a friend for a couple of days. Stavanger is located by the North Sea and the «oil capital» of Norway. The city is celebrating its 900 years this year. So it is old, dating back to the vikings. It is quite an international city where most people has an income that somehow is connected to the oil industry.
All of these murals were found by the harbour. The Old Stavanger where wooden houses from the late 1700s is one of the main tourist attractions. These pieces of art were found on buildings on my way to the area. None of the really old houses has murals painted on their walls. I think they are protected.
Different murals found in town and a few kilometers outside the city center. I just noticed them accidently when I was walking into town. The city of Stavanger was the first city in Norway to be the host of the countrys first street art festival. You might have heard of the Nuart Festival, which is the name of the festival that has existed since 2001. Many international artists are always invited to town. It is always great to visit Stavanger. Especially during the summer.
