Hello, friends! Today is Throwback Thursday, and it's been a while since I posted anything about that. I started remembering when I arrived and took that first photo with my eldest niece and my sister-in-law, whom I hadn't seen in so many years. My niece was little when I left, and she is now 18 years old.
I was away from Venezuela for six years, which is a long time for a teenager, since that's the stage when they change and grow the most. She's quite tall, and people say she looks like me. I do think she has some of my features, except that her aunt is 5'3“ and she's 5'9” (laughs). She is a very intelligent, loving, and super talented young woman. That photo was very special and always will be, because that day she was waiting for me eagerly, just like I was waiting for her.
It was a very tiring day, but it was one of the most beautiful days I have ever experienced. That feeling you get after not seeing your people, your home, for so many years and suddenly having them close by is everything. These photos are the most precious memory of the year and a half I have been here. They remind me that it has been worth it and that it is all about continuing to believe in my country and being close to those I have always loved. Have a happy Thursday.
