Meet Wes Unseld!!
This week as I was going through old cards I ran into some Wes Unseld cards. What a beast of a man and player. One of my favorite things to do when I go through old cards is to look up their stats and resume as a reminder of they were hall of famers. Here is a little more about him.
He was 6 foot 7 inches and 245 lbs.
1x MVP 1x Rookie of the Year 1x NBA champion 1x finals MVP
I think his most impressive stat though is that he was rookie of the year and MVP in the same season. The guy landed in the NBA with a splash.
He played 82 games and scored 13.8 points per game with 18.2 rebounds.
He went on to played 13 season. All with the same team.
There is only 1 other player who ever was the rookie of the year and MVP in the same season. I’m not sure if it can ever be done again. I’ll probably be proven wrong but it’s hard when these player come into tie league so young.
