Kyogre & Garganacl Pokemon Japan Card Reveals
Hi there. Here is a short Pokemon TCG post that features Kyogre and the Garganacl evolution line.
Kyogre
This Kyogre is a beefy Basic Water Pokemon with 150 HP, 3 retreat cost and Lightning weakness.
The Swirling Waves attack requires 2 Water Energy and 1 Colourless Energy to do 130 damage. Its drawback is discarding 2 Energy from this Kyogre. This attack is not great as there no Water Energy acceleration and it cost too much.
Kyogre's first attack is interesting. For one Water Energy, the Riptide attack does 20 damage for each Water Energy in your discard pile. Then you shuffle those Water Energy cards into your deck. To reach 200 damage you need 10 Water energy cards in the discard pile. For something big like 300 damage you would need 15 Water Energy cards in your discard pile. Sure you can reach big numbers but having 15 or more Energy cards in your deck is not great. You can risk getting bad hands where you have no Supporters, Pokemon to use.
In theory, Kyogre sounds like a good attacker with no limit on its damage output. I think in practice that Kyogre would not see much play.
Nacli & Naclstack
Nacli and Naclstack are the pre-evoluton Pokemon cards before Garganacl. They are not great attackers and their retreat costs are not low.
Garganacl
Here is another version of Garganacl. This might be version number 4 or something. The Hammer In attack is not great as it is 2 Fighting Energy and 1 Colourless Energy to do 130 damage.
Garganacl's Power Salt ability is good. With this in play, Fighting Pokemon get an attack boost of 30 more damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
The attack boost for Fighting Pokemon is good but it does requires a lot of cards to get this Stage 2 Pokemon in play. In theory, having this with Mamoswine ex seems good.
In the future we will have this Premium Power Pro Item card available. Running 4 of these is more efficient in terms of deck space than running the Garganacl evolution line.
