Hi there. I share my thoughts on the Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex Battle Deck product to release in November 2025.

This a level 3 deck product that is in theory competitive out of the box. The suggested retail price is 29.99 USD.

Featured Cards

Team Rocket's Crobat ex is one of the featured attackers in this deck. It is the final evolution of Team Rocket's Zubat. When you evolve from hand into this Team Rocket's Crobat ex, the ability of Biting Spree allows you to place 2 damage counters (20 damage) on 2 of your opponent's Pokemon. Its Assassin's Return requires 2 Dark Energy to deal 120 damage with the option of putting this Pokemon into your hand. An optional hit and run attack.

Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex is the primary attacker in this deck product. It has a hefty 280 HP which is not normal for a Pokemon ex Basic Pokemon. The Power Saver ability limits this Mewtwo from attacking unless you have 4 or more Rocket's Pokemon in play. The Erasure Ball attack requires 2 Psychic Energy and 1 Colourless energy to deal 160 base damage. You do have the option to discard 2 or more Energy from your Benched Pokemon. This makes this attack do 60 more damage for each Energy discarded this way. With the Erasure ball attack, you do either 160, 220 or 280 damage.

The ACE SPEC choice in this deck is Scramble Switch. You switch your Active Pokemon with 1 of your Benched Pokemon. Then you may move as many Energy from the Active Pokemon to the Benched Pokemon that would be switched in.

Team Rocket's Spidops

Team Rocket's Spidops is a very good attacker on its own as provides fuel for Team Rocket's Mewtwo. The Charging Up ability can be used once during your turn. Attach a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to this Pokemon.

The Rocket Rush attack requires one Grass Energy and one Colourless Energy to deal 30 damage for each of your Team Rocket's Pokemon. A full bench plus active Team Rocket's Pokemon would result in 180 damage (30 x 6).

Team Rocket Trainer Cards

The Team Rocket Trainer cards can be confusing at first. You do get used to it over time. Ariana is for drawing more cards, Archer is for hand disruption after one of your own Team Rocket's Pokemon get Knocked Out, Giovanni is for switching and targeting 1 opponent's Benched Pokemon and Proton is for setting up Basic Pokemon.

Petrel is for searching any 1 Trainer card. It could be another Supporter card, Item card or a Stadium card.

The Team Rocket Factory stadium gives additional draw power. You may choose to draw 2 more cards after you have played a Team Rocket's Supporter card.

The Transceiver Item card is super powerful. You can search your deck for any one Team Rocket Supporter card and put it into your hand.

Improving The Deck & Notes

This deck as a level 3 product is not as good as the Dragapult ex deck, the Charizard ex deck or the Gardevoir ex deck from the past in terms of competitiveness. The best version of a Team Rocket deck has Team Rocket Mewtwo ex with the Spidops. Even that is not really competitive right now. The Crobat evolution line and the 2 Dark Energy in this deck can be removed from this product.

Get A Fourth Team Rocket's Tarontula & Spidops

Max out on the Tarontula and Spidops by adding 1 more of each. The Spidops is a good second attacker and it provides fuel for Mewtwo.

Add Few Nest Balls Or Buddy-Buddy Poffin

Change Scramble Switch ACE SPEC

There are better ACE SPEC options than this one like Maximum Belt for more damage, Unfair Stamp or Secret Box. Secret Box is really popular for searching cards in your deck but this ACE SPEC is really expensive.

Sample Decklist

Ultimately you want to change this deck product into something more like this. No Crobat ex, no dark Energy, a few Earthen Vessels, a 2 more Team Rocket's Giovanni.

Assuming no price hikes of this product as a result of scalpers, this product is okay. You do get a good amount of Rocket themed cards. The two Night Stretchers are nice as those are hard to find and I think are 5 CAD each. The major disadvantage is that Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex is not competitive right now. It could be better once the G regulation mark cards go away in early 2026. There is no guarantee though of this deck being good in the future though. A good handful of players including me are mentioning that this may be one of the worst level 3 deck products to release.

This product is good to start out with as a beginner but there are better options if you want to start getting competitive.

Thank you for reading.
