**The Silent Morning Announcement**
It was eight in the morning, offices had opened, mobiles were on, and the world was moving in its routine life.
But then one announcement made everything still. The news came:
Internet across the country has been suspended for the next 18 hours.
**خاموش صبح کا اعلان**
صبح اٹھ بجے کا وقت تھا، دفاتر کھل چکے تھے، موبائل آن ہو چکے تھے اور دنیا اپنی روٹین لائف پر رواں دواں تھی۔
مگر پھر ایک اعلان نے سب کچھ ساکت کر دیا، خبر آئی:
ملکی سطح پر انٹرنیٹ اگلے 18 گھنٹوں کے لیے معطل کر دیا گیا ہے۔
**The Initial Uncertainty**
At first, everyone thought maybe it’s some technical problem that will fix itself with time.
But when ten minutes passed, then half an hour, then a full hour, the truth slowly started to show its colors.
**شروعاتی بے یقینی**
پہلے تو سب کو لگا شاید کوئی ٹیکنیکل مسئلہ ہے جو وقت کے ساتھ ٹھیک ہو جائے گا۔
لیکن جب اگلے دس منٹ گزرے، پھر آدھا گھنٹہ، پھر ایک گھنٹہ تو حقیقت نے آہستہ آہستہ اپنا رنگ دکھانا شروع کر دیا۔
**The Office Confusion**
In a management office, some high-profile people were invited to be taught online, but as soon as this news came, the office manager held his head.
What will happen to the Zoom meeting...?
That client...?
And that presentation...?
The secretary said:
Sir, even the email isn’t going...
Business stopped, communication cut off, faces of digital business people turned pale...
**دفاتر کی پریشانی**
ایک مینجمنٹ کے دفتر میں ہائی پروفائل لوگوں کو آن لائن سکھانے کے لیے مدعو کیا ہوا تھا، اس خبر کے ساتھ ہی دفتر کے مینجر نے اپنا سر پکڑ لیا۔
زوم میٹنگ کا کیا ہوگا۔۔۔؟
وہ کلائنٹ۔۔۔؟
اور وہ پریزنٹیشن۔۔۔؟
سیکرٹری بولی:
سر ای میل بھی نہیں جا رہی۔۔۔۔
کاروبار ٹھپ، رابطے منقطع، ڈیجیٹل بزنس کرنے والوں کے چہرے زرد۔۔۔۔
**Shoaib’s Day Off**
Shoaib didn’t know how to drive, so he used to book an online ride to go to the office, but today he had to take a day off because today the net wasn’t working — so from where would he book the ride...?
**شعیب کی چھٹی**
شعیب کو ڈرائیونگ نہیں آتی تھی تاہم وہ آن لائن رائڈ بک کر کے ہی دفتر جایا کرتا تھا لیکن آج اسے چھٹی کرنی پڑی کیونکہ آج نیٹ ہی نہیں چل رہا تھا تو وہ رائڈ کہاں سے بک کراتا۔۔۔؟
**The Freelancer’s Helplessness**
In his room sat a young freelancer, staring constantly at his laptop.
Man, today was the client’s final delivery...
The payment was also supposed to come today...
His crypto wallet with digital currency worth lakhs was getting frozen, but now there was only one sentence:
“Network connection lost”
**فری لانسر کی بے بسی**
اپنے کمرے میں بیٹھا ایک نوجوان فری لانسر مستقل لیپ ٹاپ کو گھورے جا رہا تھا۔
یار آج کلائنٹ کا فائنل ڈیلیور تھا۔۔۔
پیمنٹ بھی آج آنی تھی۔۔۔
اس کے کرپٹو والٹ میں لاکھوں کے ڈیجیٹل کرنسی فریز ہو رہی تھی، مگر اب صرف ایک جملہ تھا:
"نیٹ ورک کنکشن لاسٹ"
**Jaweria Baji’s Difficult Hour**
Jaweria Baji’s (Baji = sister) problem was difficult too. She used to order food daily from an online app, ate herself and fed the kids before sending them to school.
Actually, she also worked in an office, but today the net was down so how would the app work..?
So she stood worried in the kitchen:
“Ohhh cooking! I only did this twice after marriage...”
Fridge empty, online order stopped, silence in the kitchen, hunger increasing, children shouting, and delay after delay in reaching school...
**جویریہ باجی کی مشکل گھڑی**
جویریہ باجی کا مسئلہ بھی مشکل تھا، وہ روز آن لائن ایپ سے کھانا منگواتی تھی، خود بھی کھاتی اور بچوں کو بھی کھلا کر اسکول بھیجتی۔
دراصل وہ بھی ایک آفس میں کام کرتی تھی، مگر آج نیٹ ہی بند تھا تو ایپ کہاں سے چلتی۔۔؟
چنانچہ وہ پریشان ہو کر کچن میں جا کھڑی ہوئیں:
"اوہہہہ کوکنگ! یہ تو میں نے شادی کے بعد بس دو بار کی تھی۔۔۔
فریج خالی، آن لائن آرڈر بند، کچن میں خاموشی، بھوک کی شدت، بچوں کا شور، اسکول پہنچنے میں مسلسل تاخیر پہ تاخیر۔۔۔
**Rizwan’s Empty Return**
Rizwan used to drive a bike for a ride service, today he stood at the crossing for an hour, and when he didn’t get any passenger, he realized what the matter was, so he returned home empty-handed...
**رضوان کی خالی واپسی**
رضوان بائیکیا چلایا کرتا تھا آج وہ چوک پر ایک گھنٹے کھڑا رہا، جب اسے کوئی سواری نہ ملی تو اسے اندازہ ہوا کہ آج کیا معاملہ ہے، لہٰذا وہ خالی ہاتھ گھر کو لوٹ رہا تھا۔۔۔۔
**Khuda Bakhsh’s Trial**
In the same area lived an old man named Khuda Bakhsh, he was a heart patient and wanted to take a doctor’s appointment through an app, but that day neither the app opened nor any line connected.
Running and panting, he reached another hospital where he was told that the heart specialist gives consultancy through video call.
The patient’s condition was getting worse, and there was nothing anyone could do, everyone just stood there helpless, silent spectators.
**خدا بخش کی آزمائش**
اسی علاقے میں خدا بخش نامی ایک بزرگ رہا کرتے تھے، وہ ہارٹ پیشنٹ تھے اور ہسپتال میں ایپ کے ذریعے ڈاکٹر کی اپوائنٹمنٹ لینا چاہتے تھے مگر اس روز نا ایپ کھلی نہ لائن ملی۔
بھاگم بھاگ دوسرے ہسپتال میں پہنچے تو وہاں پر چلا کہ ہارٹ اسپیشلسٹ ڈاکٹر صاحب تو ویڈیو کال پر کنسلٹنٹی دیتے ہیں۔
ادھر مریض کی طبیعت بگڑتی جا رہی تھی، ادھر کچھ کر نہیں سکتے تھے، بس سبھی بے بس خاموش تماشائی بنے کھڑے تھے۔
**The Halted Online Business**
A young girl who used to run an Instagram business — her orders, payments, deliveries — all stopped.
She used to count her daily income on the screen, and today there was only one sentence:
You are offline
**آن لائن کاروبار کا رک جانا**
ایک نوجوان لڑکی جو انسٹاگرام بزنس چلا رہی تھی اس کے آرڈرز، پیمنٹ، ڈلیوریز سب رک گئے۔
اسکرین پر روزانہ کی انکم گنتی تھی، آج صرف ایک جملہ تھا:

**A Moment to Think**
Dear readers! After writing this much of the story, my heart trembled. I think that the internet which once seemed like an extra convenience, now feels like the breath of life.
Communication, livelihood, business and economy, education, health, food, travel, information — everything of ours is connected to it.
If it stops, then everything stops...
**سوچنے کا مقام**
قارئین کرام! یہاں تک کی روداد لکھ کر میرا تو دل کانپ گیا ہے، میں سوچتا ہوں کہ انٹرنیٹ جو کبھی لگتا تھا کہ اضافی سہولت ہے آج لگ رہا ہے کہ زندگی کی سانس ہے، رابطے، روزگار، تجارت و معیشت، تعلیم، صحت، کھانا، سفر، معلومات اور ہمارا سب کچھ تو اسی سے جڑ گئے ہیں اگر یہ بند تو گویا سب بند۔۔
**Two Necessary Steps**
Therefore, we should become active regarding this.
First, we should prepare ourselves for alternatives, that if such a situation ever arises, what possible options we can have.
Second, we cannot get rid of technology, cannot run away from it — it belongs to our era.
So we should work on it more and make it so common that there is no interruption or pause in it.
Otherwise, the same will happen as we have read in those stories — that with someone pressing one button, the button of our life will be turned off, as if we are robots playing in someone else’s hands, to be turned off whenever they wish.
**دو ضروری اقدامات**
لہٰذا ہمیں چاہیے کہ ہم اس حوالے سے متحرک ہو جائیں، اول تو خود کو متبادل کے لیے بھی تیار رکھیں کہ اگر کبھی اس طرح کی صورتحال پیش آتی ہے تو ہمارے پاس ممکنہ طور پر دوسری کیا چیزیں ہو سکتی ہیں۔
دوسرا یہ کہ ہم ٹیکنالوجی سے جان نہیں چھڑا سکتے، اس سے بھاگ نہیں سکتے کہ یہ ہمارے زمانے کی چیز ہے لہٰذا ہمیں چاہیے کہ اس پہ مزید کام کریں اور اسے ایسا عام کریں کہ اس میں کوئی تعطل یا توقف نہ آسکے، ورنہ وہی ہوگا جو ان کہانیوں میں ہم پڑھ چکے ہیں کہ کسی کے ایک بٹن دبانے سے ہماری زندگی کا بٹن بند ہو جائے گا گویا ہم کسی اور کے ہاتھ میں کھیلتے روبوٹ ہیں جسے وہ جب چاہے بند کر دیے۔۔
