I have decided to check on my favorite "Caped Crusader" by catching up on some Batman issues from this year. DC's Batman stories have always intrigued me, especially with their cast of villains. In issue #610, Killer Croc is being examined at Arkham Asylum due to his changing nature. He is mutating ever-so-slowly with the possibility of whatever humanity he has left disappearing. Batman believes Killer Croc had some assistance in pulling off a kidnapping for ransom job. Someone stole the ransom money that was just paid as Batman rescued the boy that was held.
While Bruce Wayne is out for the evening, Alfred receives an unexpected visit from Doctor Thomas Elliot, who is not only a childhood friend but also his surgeon. Bruce's dad worked on Elliot's mother and father when they were rushed to the hospital after a horrific accident. While his mom pulled through, his dad did not. Being very young, he took Bruce's reassurances very personal and was not at all understanding of his loss.
Killer Croc was desperate for the millions paid because he wanted to undo the monster he's become. Batman was chasing the runaway croc due to a tracking device. It is soon revealed that Catwoman was working with Croc but not the thief of the ransom. All fingers are pointing at Poison Ivy. Try convincing the oversized crocodile of this. While Killer Croc is captured, Batman and Catwoman rekindle some suppressed feelings for each other. An amazing book to reenter the Batman story, kudos should go to Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams for developing this arc in the storyline.
