The Caped Crusader is still trying to find out who is responsible for the chaos around him. He wasn't able to get information from Killer Croc or Poison Ivy. The usual suspects are finding new ways to target Batman. Batman #613 finds Bruce Wayne at the Gotham City Opera House with Dr. Thomas Elliot, Leslie Thompkins and Selina Kyle. Thompkins comforted a very young Bruce Wayne on the night that his parents were killed.
Selina has no idea that she is enjoying the opera with a romantic interest in Wayne, as he is Batman and she Catwoman. The evening doesn't remain calm though as Harley Quinn rips out of a stage costume but not before belting her version of an operatic verse. The Joker's girlfriend has a plan to rob valuables from the audience with a few goons stationed in the orchestra.
Dr. Elliot's pride gets the better of him as he refuses to take the robbery laying down. Not willing to reveal himself as Batman, Wayne expresses the need to call the police. Being able to find the right opportunity to change into Batman, he quickly realized that he is not fully recovered rom his medical procedure. His head is killing him as it gets plummeted. The good doctor's efforts to be a hero are stopped abruptly and ends in tragedy, as does most operas. And waiting in the wings is none other than the Joker!
