Today I want to show you some pictures and tell you a little story about my visit to Luang Prabang, in northern Laos. It is a small city with an enormous cultural and religious value. It has more than 50 Buddhist temples, which makes it a tourist destination for those who travel to this Asian country. The architecture of the city is influenced by the French colony and Buddhist architecture.
One of the main attractions in the city, is waking up before sunrise and going out to the street to see the Buddhist monks receiving the offerings of the people. The monks walk barefoot through the city, carrying some pots in which they put the food that people offer to them. The support of his faithful followers is crucial, since the monks can only eat what is offered to them. The local people support day by day, going out to the street to provide them with food. It's something very nice to see, the respect that you have for each other ... it's just exciting.
Another great attraction of Luang Prabang, is the waterfall Tad Kouang Si, a must for those visiting the city. The waterfall is a few kilometers from the city center, can be accessed by bicycle, or for the weak ones (like me) you can go in tuk tuk (motorcycle taxis very common throughout South East Asia) The spot is really impressive, several waterfalls, and there is even a tree with a rope to jump into the water in the best Tarzan style.
It is a city where tranquility and peace are breathed. Perhaps the enormous number of temples gives this atmosphere. The people, as in all of Laos, are very kind and humble, always with a good disposition. After traveling a month through Laos, I must say that their people is the biggest treasure they have. Sincere smiles, gestures of honesty, are very common when dealing with local people.

En este post les quiero mostrar algunas fotos de mi visita a Luang Prabang, al norte de Laos. Es una pequeña ciudad con un enorme valor cultural y religioso. Cuenta con mas de 50 templos budistas, lo que la convierte en un destino turístico para quienes viajan a éste país de Asia. La arquitectura de la ciudad se ve influenciada por la colonia francesa y la arquitectura budista.
Uno de los principales atractivos de la ciudad, es despertarse al amancecer y salir a la calle a ver a los monjes budistas recibiendo las ofrendas de la gente. Los monjes se pasean descalzos por la ciudad, cargando unas vasijas en las que ponen la comida que la gente les ofrece. El apoyo de sus fieles seguidores es crucial, ya que los monjes sólo pueden comer lo que se les ofrece. La gente local apoya día a día, saliendo a la calle para brindarles alimento. Es algo muy lindo de ver, el respeto que se tienen mutuamente... es simplemente emocionante.
Otro gran atractivo de Luang Prabang, es la cascada Tad Kouang Si, una visita obligada para quienes visitan la ciudad. La cascada se encuentra a unos pocos kilómetros del centro de la ciudad, se puede acceder en bicicleta, o para los mas flojos (como yo) se puede ir en tuk tuk (moto taxis muy comunes en todo Asia) La cascada es realmente impresionante, varias caídas de agua, y hasta hay un árbol con una soga para saltar al agua al mejor estilo Tarzán.
Es una ciudad en la que se respira tranquilidad y paz. Quizás la enorme cantidad de templos le brinde ésta atmósfera. La gente, al igual que en todo Laos, es muy amable y humilde, siempre con buena disposición. Después de viajar un mes por Laos, debo decir que su gente es su mayos tesoro. Sonrisas sinceras, gestos de honestidad, son muy comunes al tratar con la gente local.
