Sometimes we have been broke at some points. Many people are used to this kind of word. It is a word we don't mind here in our daily life.
I'm broke. Even those that still have to take care of themselves still have to claim a broke situation. They claim an empty bank account. For others, it's just a mindset to keep themselves away from people that will drain them of their money. For me, it can be a myth of both.
Everyone has their own version of why they choose to act broke or say they are broke. Maybe it is true or maybe it's a lie. But for me, being broke means having less than at least $80 in my account with bills to pay around the corner. Imagine a moment where you open your bank account and you're trying to check your balance and you see an amount that is less than $100 . It's very hard to cover your rent, your stuff, pay your bills and other subscriptions.
But sometimes it is not about the amount that is in your account. But sometimes being broke is just that feeling of limitation or you are not enough, or you don't have enough, or you're not where you are supposed to be.
The next question that I have is this. Sometimes you have to cut some of those expensive spending. Those unnecessary dinners your friends invite you to that makes you spend on a lot of unnecessary things. You have to cut it down. Until you end up with a lot of money. Sometimes you just buy what you don't need just for the moment and then you tend to regret later. It's also a normal realization that gives you to spend unexpectedly on something that is not valuable.
I can remember one time when I was fully broke. I had less amount of money in me. And my house was due in two months. That moment I couldn't afford to go out so I spent my time inside watching movies and thinking of what to do to get the money to pay my rent. That was a low point for me.
But I think that moment forced me to be creative. I was working on a job that the pay was not enough. So at that moment I had the chance to be creative and create a self-employment for myself. I started watching some creative videos online. Taking some free courses online. It's not just about you not having money, it's about what you are limited to at that moment.
What you don't know, the information that you know, that you don't know, that can take you far. But it's about what you can do. If you cannot afford an expensive phone, then you haven't paid your kids to that point that can get you that kind of phone. So you have to cut your expenses. You can't buy new clothes. You have to manage the one that you have.
That is, for me, I would say one of the biggest indicators of being that broke. It's when I started avoiding unnecessary spending. I decided to live a life of budgeting.
But at this moment of being broke, it's when I realized that my thoughts are very strong. And my mind keeps me active finding ways to make money. And the thing about being broke is that it doesn't last forever. Money comes and goes like a season, not a life sentence, when you feel that nothing can work again.
When you are facing this kind of tough moment, you have to be courageous to step up. Instead of feeling bad and feeling like you're a failure, you have to be resourceful and show gratitude for the little things you have so that you can get motivated to achieve more. So you can finally switch yourself to that life you wanted to live.
Right now, don't be sad. You are not the first. You are not alone. You are tougher than you think. You have to keep puzzling. Be creative and know that every step you take in achieving your goals counts.
