An old vine grows next to my family home. It is my parents' house where I was born and spent my youth and best years. The vine was planted by my grandfather and they are old grape varieties that are born every year and are not sprayed.Yes, I don't spray them because they are resistant to all diseases. That is the value of old seedlings.I have four types of grapes and the vines are full of clusters, some even touching the ground. Two types of grapes are ripe now and I came to pick them so that one type will ripen later.
This variety is called CAUS in our country, and in some parts of my country DEMIR KAPIJA.It ripens the fastest and I protected it with a net because birds eat it a lot. So by the time I get there, sometimes there's nothing left.
This variety is called DRENIK and it is not ripe enough. It grows in the trellis in front of the house as an overhang and we have wonderful shade. I remember how my mother brought us breakfast every morning in the summer on an old wooden table under the vine.
And every house at that time planted vines like that, the old people knew how healthy those varieties were and they grew them.
This is TAMJANIKA, it is the most resistant. Domestic red wine is most often made from this variety. And I remember that. My father made that wine and brought it for us to drink a glass each, saying that it was good medicine for the heart.
This is ZELENIKA. It is a white grape variety and it ripens in mid-autumn. I don't even get to pick it because the birds love it and mostly eat it. And I let them because apart from filling a few plates for the family to eat, I don't use it for further processing. Those varieties in the markets are big and beautiful to the eye, but be aware that they are full of pesticides. This is something healthy and organic that grows in my yard. I hope you liked it. See you again. Have a nice day everyone.
