Hello friends of the @Wednesdaywalk community, which brings us together on Wednesdays and allows us to share walks and experiences while visiting numerous destinations.Today I am writing to you about a visit to the Ethno Village of Stanisic in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We traveled 2 hours from Belgrade because the village is located close to the border and the price of the excursion is only 18 euros. At the entrance there is a board with a map of the village and information about the facilities. I bought a ticket and entered the space that is decorated like an old village. The village is located near Bijeljina, a few kilometers from the city center, and spreads over a large area with many buildings and bodies of water.I started along the path by the lake. Several wooden bridges can be seen on the water connecting the islands. On the first island there is a mill. It shows the way grain is ground. Next to it is a small log cabin in which old household items are stored - wooden spoons, dishes, a loom and tools for working in the fields.
When we crossed the bridge we came to the church. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and was built in the style of old monasteries.
I continued towards the part that represents the old part of the village with houses from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each house has a plaque with the name of the place from which it was brought. In some of them, old furniture, bedding, distaffs and pots are exhibited. In another part of the village there is a tavern where you can try local food. There is also a dairy nearby with cow's and sheep's milk products. There I saw cheese making machines and a milk vat
On the other side of the lake is the part with the Pirg hotel. The hotel is built in stone, has several floors. There is also a museum not far from the hotel. The museum exhibits old tools, photographs, money, documents and weapons. There is also a section dedicated to the First and Second World Wars. Uniforms and personal belongings of soldiers can be seen in the showcase.
We walked almost the entire village in less than two hours and sat down in a cafe in Sankt Petersburg. We drank two juices and headed towards the parking lot. We saw a few animals and these beautiful swans that were hostile, so we bypassed them.
On the way back, we stopped in Bijeljina to see the church of St. Petka. And then we returned home. A wonderful trip full of impressions.
Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Stay healthy.
