The christening of my niece, Zafira, was such a special and meaningful day for our whole family. She is not just my niece, she is also my daughter’s best friend, playmate and even like a little sister. These two are always together and seeing them grow up side by side makes this occasion even more important for me.
We prepared a small celebration at the backyard of my in-law’s house. It was simple and perfect for gathering family and friends. We did not hire any event decorator; it was really a family effort.
Now, about the theme- it was quite funny because there was no exact theme. We had unicorns, some candy land style, and also a few animals’ decorations. To be honest, you cannot really tell what the real theme was! The reason for that is because I reused the decorations from my daughter’s birthday and from my other niece’s celebration last year. The only thing we actually spent on was the balloons. It was a practical way to save money, and at the same time we were happy to give the decorations a second life. Even if it was a mix of everything the result was still colorful, lively and fun for everyone especially the kids.
The preparation was tiring, of course. We set up chairs, tables and all the decorations ourselves. Everyone helped- my husband, my in-laws and even the children who were excited to see balloons everywhere. Even though we were already feeling tired, we still made time to take pictures. These photos are very important to me because they are proof of the love and effort we all gave to make the day memorable. I edited the pictures myself in Canva and I love how they turned out.
Another thing that made the day extra special was the food. It was not a grand buffet, but it was enough to make everyone happy and full. We shared cooked food that everyone enjoyed, and eating together made the celebration warmer. Children were running around with balloons, playing games and laughing so hard that the adults couldn’t help but smile too. For me, moments like these are priceless. It’s not about how big or expensive the celebration is, but about the love that fills the space. That is what makes Zafira’s Christening unforgettable for all of us.
The celebration itself was simple but full of love. Zafira was surrounded by family and happiness. Looking at her family her mommy and daddy, knowing how they are blessed with so many people who care for Zafira made everything worth it.
In the end, it did not matter if the theme was a little confusing or if we were exhausted from the preparation. What truly mattered was the joy of celebrating a new chapter to Zafira’s life and the bond of family that grows stronger in moments like these.
