When people hear the word family reunion, they often imagine laughter, fun and perfect memories. But the truth is, it’s not always easy. Our recent reunion with my husband’s father side showed me the real picture of stress, tears and a lot of effort.
The venue was near our farmhouse. Since no one else volunteered to decorate, I took the responsibility with my husband’s cousin. A day before the event, we worked hard to set up the place, arrange decorations, the boys in charge to the food and cooking. It was tiring, but I believed that all the effort would be worth it once everyone gathered together.
The truth is, no matter how many meetings are held, not all plans are followed. Most of the time, decisions happen on the spot. And being part of the host family is never easy, you sacrifice sleep, energy and sometimes people don’t even notice your effort, Still, family reunion are done out of love, so you just keep going.
On the day of the reunions, we started early at 7:30 AM. After breakfast, we had a Bible service to thank God for all his blessings and protection. Them came the program, which was the most remembered the past and those who were no longer with us. That moment made me realize how precious family is.
Our venue was open, so everyone gets worried. But even with the rain, the program continued. People were wet, others felt uncomfortable. But nobody left. Instead, the moment became more meaningful, it showed that nothing, not even the rain could stop us from being united.

Family reunions are not always perfect. Sometimes, even siblings argue over land or cousin who were once close now hurting ach other. Conflicts in the family are real, but during reunions, emotions come out. Misunderstanding may not be solved right away, but reunions give a chance to forgive and reconnect. In the end, love is stronger than conflicts, being together is what truly matters.
Thank you so much for taking time to read my story. I truly appreciate it and hope it remind us all of the true meaning of family togetherness.
