Hello everyone, This post is a special entry for the Hive Garden Journal Challenge, where gardeners from all over the world share stories about garden. We planted ginger in our farm, and today’s story are from planting, harvesting, washing, preparing and finally selling at the local market. we harvested almost five sacks of native ginger. Each sack weighed around 50 kilos, so that’s a total of 250 kilos. The market price today is 110 per kilo or almost 2 hbd which is already fair. There are times if can go up to 200 pesos per kilo, but we chose to sell now because we have plans, I and my husband want to use the money to finance for sugarcane and pay some debts.

What I really love about planting ginger is that it’s not expensive to grow and it’s not high maintenance. Even if you leave it alone for a while. It continues to grow under the soil.

Another great thing about ginger is that you don’t need to rush to sell it. If the price is low, you can delay the harvest and wait for the right time. It doesn’t spoil easily. This gives us more control, unlike other crops that you must sell immediately

After harvesting, we washed and cleaned the ginger carefully. We removed the dirt and trimmed them to make them look fresh and market ready. A lot of customers prefer native ginger because of its stronger aroma and spicier flavor. It has a bold taste that really stands out, perfect for cooking.

I hope our story inspires others to plant ginger too. Because sometimes the simplest crops bring the biggest blessings.

Thank you for reading my story. I hope it inspires other small farmers and gardeners to keep planting, keep hoping and never give up.
