Well, the underdog story is finally complete, and New York City has a new mayor elect. On Tuesday, the young 34 year old candidate Zohran Mamdani, beat the establishment choices of Cuomo and Sliwa. The election energized a young population in Brooklyn to drown out the old money of the upper east side and Staten Island.
It is a resounding win for the country's youth, who voted for a candidate who campaigned to raise taxes on millionaires to pay for city services like free public buses, universal childcare, and rent freezes for public housing. And once I got home, I was completely tuckered out. Didn't do much of anything besides watching Champions League soccer highlights. Chelsea drew a tough game on the road in Azerbaijan. Two bad mistakes cost them two goals. Chelsea really needed the three points here to try for the Top8 bye into the Round of 16, but it is looking a lot less likely now. Until next time...
