Nobody can speak and say that there are no instances when you feel so much emotional stress and are unable to think properly about how to hold back from doing things wrong. In such a situation, you feel plenty of stress and hot emotions that compel you to lash back on whatever that cause it. But thinking at the time can be the best thing to do. This thinking makes you properly judge things.

My dad taught me when I was young, the fastest way to get out of an escalated situation is to take a walk. I saw it happen myself one time when my dad and my mom were in a huge argument. It was the type that would make a person strike back to show that they are right. My mom was yelling and screaming at my dad.

You would expect my dad silencing my mom by beating her, but he never did that. Instead, he got into his room, dressed up and left the house. By the time he returned in the evening, my mom was okay. She was even waiting for his return to having dinner together. That day, I learned what being a man is.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I had a major disagreement for almost a week. It was so large of a problem that it resulted in one of us starving and sleeping on the living room floor to prevent further hassle, and I went that route. And then I got to experience the first time in our marriage sleeping on the cold floor. But it was because of good reason. If I hadn't, the other one of us would have needed a doctor the following day.

It is vital to learn how to walk away from emotional moment to live well with others. Even though my fight with my wife was enormous and we could not talk to each other for days, walking away made us avoid being in a worse situation.

Still, the next morning we prayed together before I left for the day's business. Trying to win an argument in a tense situation can hurt your body and heart. You cannot do anything about someone else's feelings, so instead of standing around waiting for them to cool down, you should cool down yourself lest you get into a bad place.

There is no formula to escape unwanted situations when emotions get the best of you. Each person has to learn to control their emotions and understand when things get too heated. We all need harmony, so there is no use trying to win an argument or a fight. We shouldn’t let it escalate to begin with. When emotions heat up and the tension gets high, you should know to cut your losses and walk away.

Others will tell you that walking away is a sign of weakness and that’s acceptable because if it blows up and you stayed, the same people who told you are weak will blame you that you didn’t walk away. You should understand how to act or react to people, knowing how and when to act will keep you out of situations that could become stressful. It is also acceptable to understand your limitations and adhere to them. By understanding your limitations it allows you create decisions without being overwhelmed with emotion.

It can't be the same for everybody. Some understand it more than others and know what to do to avoid trouble. Most get too emotional when they are hurt, and most of the time they find themselves in a situation that could have been avoided if they were calm.

At times it is better to just keep your lips sealed to prevent these things from happening, but to simply be quiet where harm may start is like not even trying. Therefore it is wise to back off and cool down and get a grip on yourself.

It is hard to manage emotions, but I learned how to tame in and when to steer clear of conflicts in the workplace or at home. From what I have seen, it is easier at times for a woman to yell if she is angry. And yes, my wife yells at me. I need to tame in my emotions, and I hold it in. It is something which I think everyone should learn.

It is hard to do at first, but eventually, you'll get it. Striking out when offended can lead to fits of rage. I've learned to shut my mouth, then walk away. That is what I do. Everybody has got to learn how to handle the strange and rough things we feel about people in an intelligent manner.
