The Importance of Knowledge in Improving one's Life

It is sad to see that in this time of the Internet and as we move toward using all AI for work, many still wait for the government or the rich to help them. They choose not to learn new things to fight against being poor.
Truly, being ignorant has led many to stay poor. No matter what the government does, give aid or help, if they don't fix the real reasons for their troubles, they will keep suffering. People are not poor just because of no money, but also because they lack know-how. The Bible says, people perish because of no knowledge. It's also well known that knowledge gives power. But what power? The power to change life and make things better for everyone.
A person is not without knowledge because they skipped school. It is because they lack the right info on what to do and when. A bad choice can harm their life. To avoid a life stuck in poverty, choose the right job, place to live, partner, and number of kids early on. But when ignorance takes over, none of these are looked at, and many just settle for whatever happens. And that's all they end up with.
Not having knowledge can steal a person's dreams and drive. You need to know things to want a better future. Knowing how and with whom to reach goals can fast-track your life. Many suffer from always wanting to be important, because they don't know better. If left unchecked, this turns into giving up, feeling sorry for oneself, and feeling inadequate. And then, those who do try to make it become the enemy.
This often happens in families long stuck in poverty. When someone learns something new and tries to change because of it, the rest might turn against them. To them, it feels like theft. ignorance leads people to turn to old beliefs, even magic, in poorer places.
Ignorance makes people scared, and keeps them poor. Many watch as others move ahead, scared to try what worked for others. Even if shown a good business, they doubt because they lack the skills, so they stay poor. Money is all around; what’s missing is knowing how to get it.
Ten years back, few trusted in crypto. Now, many, mostly young people, make lots of money from trading them. Why not ten years ago? Not knowing much about it. I learned about crypto more and other things during the coronavirus lockdown, making extra money for my family.
People think living in a city can make them get rich easier. This idea pushes many young men to move to the city for jobs that may not exist. Pure lack of knowledge. Some even regret leaving home and can't afford to return due to tight money. This belief traps many in hard times with no way back.

Four years ago, I attended a conference at Abuja, Nigeria. I remembered a college mate who lives within the place where I was attending conference.
We planned to meet, but he had no money to come get me. I found his place by myself after requesting for his location and address. My friend lives in a two bedroom flat with his family of 3, working a job with little money, and his condition wasn't pleasing at all. I thought, if he had stayed in his hometown and started a business, he would have be better off. Many face similar fates. Fixated and not wanting to learn new skills.
