A while ago the directors of one of my favorite horror movie sagas to watch on Halloween were announced and about a week ago the Official Trailer was shown for this one which is V/H/S and V/H/S/Halloween, the new horror anthology from Shudder and I want to talk about it, its directors and my impressions of the Trailer.

The prolific found footage horror franchise V/H/S returns with its eighth installment, V/H/S/Halloween, a special edition that fully embraces the spirit of the most macabre holiday of the year. Scheduled for release on October 3, 2025 on Shudder, this film promises to be a bloody and twisted immersion in Halloween folklore. La prolífica franquicia de terror found footage V/H/S regresa con su octava entrega, V/H/S/Halloween, una edición especial que abraza por completo el espíritu de la festividad más macabra del año. V/H/S/Halloween is supposed to differentiate itself from previous installments by focusing on a unifying theme: the celebration of Halloween (something the latest installment, having an alien theme, deviates from in some shorts). Through a series of found videotapes, a series of stories unfolds, revolving around disturbing costumes, high-stakes tricks, poisoned candy, and, of course, supernatural and mundane horrors lurking in the dark night.

V/H/S/Halloween se supone se diferenciará de las entregas anteriores al centrarse en un tema unificador: la celebración de Halloween (algo que la última al tener una temática de alien se desvía en algunos cortos). A director I didn't know, but because of this film I've seen several of his works, but in the same way that he is quite creative in several things, he seems to have joined that style of several films set before 2000 with strong lighting contrast.

His style relies on subverting expectations and blending comedy and horror in a way that is both funny and deeply disturbing. One of the directors who interests me the most, seeing how he handles horror and gore in his work for Adult Swim, who, despite giving him freedom in many things, I hope to see what he will be like in V/H/S/.

Micheline Pitt-Norman & R.H. Norman | Diet Phantasma

This filmmaking duo is known for their short film Grummy, which deals with a kind of dark fantasy based on the imagination of children. Their style often blends horror with social criticism and meticulous production design. Diet Phantasma, their contribution to the anthology, is expected to continue in this vein, using the found footage format to examine the dark side of modern fears, perhaps related to body obsession or self-image, as in their short film Cosmetic, which I haven't seen but seems to highlight. Their work stands out for being both visually striking and conceptually rich.

Of those that attract my attention the least because they seem to me to be more critical than horror-oriented, and that is very difficult to balance in a short film focused on Halloween, but if done well, it can be one of the best.

De los que menos me llaman la atención porque me parecen se van más por la crítica que por el terror y eso es muy difícil equilibrar en un corto enfocado en Halloween pero que si se hace bien puede ser de los mejores.

Alex Ross Perry | Home Haunt

Alex Ross Perry is a filmmaker known for his independent psychological horror and dramatic films, such as Her Smell and Queen of Earth. His work focuses on exploring complex and often unstable characters, utilizing non-linear narratives and an oppressive atmosphere to create a sense of unease. Unlike some of the other directors in the anthology, Perry leans more toward a more cerebral and emotional horror than explicit gore. His segment, Home Haunt, is expected to utilize a found footage aesthetic to immerse us in the mind of a character, perhaps in a haunted house where the line between reality and paranoia blurs completely.

A director more inclined to drama and can create a very disturbing story, but in my opinion he is more of a musical director.

His segment on V/H/S/Halloween is titled Ut Supra Sic Infra, and we can expect a dose of terror that explores the fear of the unexplainable, with his trademark escalating tension and brutal climax.
