Even though the beginning of the summer of the calendars is in the second half of June, I consider that for me summer only starts when I feel the first, real summer vibes 😀
Sometimes I am reminded of summer during a part of the day when I drink a cold beer with my friends or when we organize a barbecue in nature, some afternoon when I return home from work due to high temperatures.
Either it's a weekend day when I go to a nearby river or lake for refreshments, or I go to my cottage for summer seasonal work.
But these are all short-term tremors that still do not signal in me: "It's time for summer!"
But when the signals become frequent (like tremors in an earthquake) and confirm my plans, it's clear, vacation is approaching and that real summer begins for me too.
We had a plan for a vacation, which we will spend at the sea, a long time ago, while I was arranging appointments with my partner in her and my work collective.
Some of you remember, then we arranged a meetup in Apatin 🙂
After matching all wishes and possibilities, we had the date of our summer vacation.
Mid-August, when summer is at its hottest 😀
A few days ago, more frequent vibrations began: actions that definitely precede summer enjoyment.
Issuing hotel vouchers, buying travel insurance, preparing and servicing the car for a slightly longer trip, washing and ironing the clothes we will be wearing...
And then, on the day of the trip: Installation of the roof box.
On the key fob for the apartment and the car, there is also a small Hive pendant, a gift from Apatin, which I always carry with me. And even when I mount the suitcase on my car 🙂
After packing, when the bags were ready for the trip, we were ready too.
We're on our way.
Someone told me a long time ago that the very act of traveling represents the enjoyment of vacation.
And I follow that wisdom.
I don't drive fast, I drive at night, in the dark, when the temperature is lower and there are less crowds.
After arriving at the hotel where we have reserved accommodation, we realize that the summer vibes got too carried away and that we arrived at the hotel well before the check-in time.
But that doesn't worry us, we move on to enjoy the first day of our summer.
The swimming pool of the nearby hotel welcomed people who wanted to enjoy themselves, and the greenery around the pool created a great shade that blended in with the edge of the pool.
Maybe unnecessary shade, because you can cool down in the water, but you probably know how nice it is to take a nap on a lounger under palm branches?
An indispensable addition to summer cooling is a frappe with plenty of ice and creamy foam, which makes a hot day with 39°C acceptable and excellent to enjoy.
An evening walk through the town where we stayed is another summer vibe, which altogether rounds off this "Beginning of summer" event of ours.
For a walk around the city, I found one in my T-shirt collection that mentions summer, the color and emblem perfectly fit in this warm day.
And how is it at sea, what's the water like, what's the beach like, the bars, someone would ask...
With a reason, because we came to complete the summer vibe by enjoying the salty sea water, but I'll leave the story of that vibe for another time, because summer has just begun!
I'm glad that I discovered this community #SummerVibe just now, at the beginning of my summer adventures and I hope that I will often post in it, what it is that reminds me of summer (especially when in the areas where I live, gloomy autumn brings rain, followed by winter, piles of snow 😄).
