🔧 CMS Day 1 – This Forgotten Classic Just Rolled In
Can We Bring the Luxor Baronne Back to Life?

CMS Day 1 – We receive the Luxor Baronne (Cadillac Sedan de Ville 1977, approx.)

As soon as I step into the shop, I run into this: messy, dirty, and lacking tools. But enough to get down to business. There's drive, there's space, and apparently
 there's clientele.

We received the request from a guy who claims to have recently bought this Luxor Baronne. He congratulates me on taking over this old gas station and assures me that the car’s condition is “not bad”
Professional liar. What he leaves me here is a heap of scrap. So, hands to work.

Initial request Hello. I was passing by and noticed your workshop. Good thing someone took care of this old, worn-out gas station. The car I'm bringing today is literally freshly bought. It’s been used daily and the overall condition isn’t bad. I think it would be a good idea to check the oil and the condition of the tires. That shouldn't be a problem for you. If you manage to do this job, maybe we’ll meet again. See you!

  • Change the oil

  • Check tire condition

Let’s get to work I popped the hood to check the tanks and was greeted with this... it looks like it went through a car wash minus the bodywork. We used the suction pump to remove the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer, and refilled them with our own. First step complete, but this is just the beginning.

We lift the car... but not the mood We raised this wheeled antique and found a bleak landscape 😅. The tires — supposedly the “only problem,” according to the owner — were accompanied by brake pads in awful condition. Like the rest of the junk.

Additional diagnostics After a deeper inspection of the Luxor Baronne, we discovered that the carburetor filter was worthless and the fuel pump gave no signs of life. We ordered both parts to bring a heartbeat back to this scrap with a story.

Tire replacement We bought a full set of tires (215/75R15), removed the old ones, mounted the new ones, and balanced them properly.

First job completed With the new balanced tires, replaced carburetor filter and fuel pump, and fluids refreshed, the Luxor Baronne is finally breathing with more dignity. But before delivering it
i sent it straight to the washing zone we set up behind the garage. No clean junk inside if it still looks dirty outside. After a proper mechanical shower, this classic looks better than ever — and our shop now has its first officially treated patient.

After the cleanjob ;D

Pit-side curiosity While dismantling the Luxor Baronne in search of signs of life under the hood, I couldn’t help but wonder what this rusty colossus really represents. So here goes: its soul is based on the 1977 Cadillac Sedan de Ville, a true titan of the golden age of American luxury. That year, Cadillac celebrated its 75th anniversary, betting on something that still felt excessive: a 5.6-meter-long car, lighter than its predecessor but just as imposing. A perfect example of “downsizing with dignity.” But what truly set it apart were its comforts. This boat on wheels could include automatic climate control, AM/FM radio with electric antenna, electric seats, and even cruise control. And let’s not forget: the classic '70s sound came in the glorious form of an 8-track, paired with Medici velvet and a padded vinyl roof that screamed Cadillac from afar. Under the hood roared a 425 cubic inch V8, pushing 180 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. It wasn’t fast, but it was respected. And inside, even more space than the previous version
an elegant paradox of engineering. The result? Over 95,000 units sold that year, proof that even in times of change, well-told luxury still finds those willing to listen.

REAL Cadillac Sedan de Ville 1977
