Here's a simple question, but what implies is beyond the simplistic meaning of the two letters. Behind all the protocols, United Nations was supposedly created to avoid another holocaust. Everybody fear another Hitler in any region could rise to power and go on a killing spree.
So they created this organization that can take action fast to stop any vestige of evil when it looms in the horizon. But are they abiding with their own precepts?
If we take a look around, we can see they are failing on it. It's just takes pure observation and logic to realize that they only care about their own interests (Politics).
Because if they really act on brutal rulers who destroy millions of lives of innocent people, this world will be a little fairer. But these representatives are just bang of fellows.
So What the UN really means? Let's make a list.
-
Uncompromising Nations
-
Ungracious Nations
-
Unfortunate Negotiators
-
Unfriendly Narcissists
-
Undiplomatic Nemesis
-
Unkind Nonsense
-
Unregenerate Nurturers
-
Unhurried Newcomers
Using a little of your creativity, you can come up with other phrases.
Now after this moment of relief, the phrases in the list don't match up the comedy level of "United Nations." I mean the group of nations who get together to party each week after their insipid sessions.
There are voices that raises from some representatives highlighting the principles of the organizations. But others jump like lions to veto any righteous action...
And what about the current Secretary-General of the United Nations? Actually, not many people know there's really a secretary because he's barely seen. The face that is mostly put in front of the camera comes from the bland high commissioner, who does nothing as if she's competing with the secretary.
In conclusion, we still don't know yet what those two letters really stand for. Maybe one day, when the sense of moral decency and justice land in the minds of men and women, we will finally know the true meaning.
