Or at least that's what everyone says. Personally, I hope that's the case, because after more than a thousand chapters, I don't think they'll give one of the most iconic series of all time an open ending.

The above words may not make much sense at first, but if we focus on the fact that today I want to share with you a fan art drawing inspired by Roronoa Zoro, then it all makes sense.

El One Piece existe.

O al menos eso dicen todos. Yo, en lo personal, espero que así sea, ya que luego de más de mil capítulos no creo que le den un final abierto a una de las series más emblemáticas de todos los tiempos.

Las palabras anteriores pueden no tener mucha lógica al inicio, pero si nos centramos en el hecho de que hoy quiero compartirles un dibujo fan art inspirado en Roronoa Zoro, entonces ya todo cobra sentido.

And yes, as you may have seen today, I want to put down on paper a Chibi-style version of the one they call the pirate hunter and who is considered the strongest swordsman in the series; at least that's how I see him.

For the drawing, I focused on three fundamental representative features of this character, which are his characteristic green hair, the scar on his eye, and his three swords. Regarding the swords, I must say that I failed in my attempt to represent them in shape and color, as I had already drawn the traditional shape of a katana, and Zoro's swords have special designs on the hilt and handle. But hey, it's Chibi-style fan art, so any change is valid. 😅

Y sí, como ya habrán visto hoy, quiero dejar plasmado en papel una versión estilo Chibi de aquel que llaman el cazador de piratas y es considerado el espadachín más fuerte de la serie; al menos yo lo considero así.

Para el dibujo me centré en tres rasgos representativos fundamentales de este personaje, los cuales son su característico pelo verde, la cicatriz en su ojo y sus tres espadas. Respecto a las espadas, debo decir que fallé al querer representarlas en forma y color, pues ya había dibujado la forma tradicional de una katana y las de Zoro tienen diseños especiales en el mango y la empuñadura. Pero bueno, es un fan art estilo chibi, así que todo cambio es válido. 😅

Step by step // Paso a paso

As usual, I started by drawing a huge head with spiky hair, to which I then drew a smaller body. The body is covered with a kimono tied with a wide fabric belt at the waist.

Como de costumbre, comencé dibujando una enorme cabezona con cabello erizado, a la cual luego le dibujé un cuerpo más pequeño. El cuerpo está cubierto con un kimono que lleva atada una cinta de tela ancha en la cintura.

I added details to the silhouette of the drawing, such as the face, the muscular lines of the chest, the folds of the clothing, and the swords. We already talked about the swords, but I forgot to mention that the sheath of one of the katanas cannot be seen on the other side because, due to a small miscalculation, it would be sticking out of the ground. So I decided to make it a wakizashi, which is a shorter katana.

After correcting several errors in the lines, I used a black pen to highlight each line and then erased everything to remove traces of the pencil graphite.

A la silueta del dibujo le agregué detalles como el rostro, las líneas musculares del pecho, los pliegues de la ropa y las espadas. Ya hablamos de las espadas, pero olvidé mencionar que la vaina de una de las katanas no se llega a ver al otro lado porque, debido a un pequeño error de cálculo, esta quedaría atravesando el suelo. Así que opté por hacerla una wakizashi, la cual es una katana más corta.

Luego de corregir varios errores en los trazos, utilicé una pluma negra para remarcar cada línea y posteriormente borré encima de todo para eliminar rastros del grafito del lápiz.

After inking, I moved on to coloring, starting with the two shades of green in the hair, which are natural and shaded tones. Normally, I don't do this at the same time, but my drawing pencils aren't suitable for layered coloring, so I have to do it in parts.

For the face and chest, I used a yellowish skin tone and darkened the areas around the hairline, ears, and lower neck.

Luego del entintado, pasé a dar color, empezando por los dos tonos de verdes en el pelo, los cuales son tono natural y sombreado. Normalmente, no hago esto a la vez, pero mis lápices de dibujo no sirven para colorear por capas, así que debo hacerlo por partes.

En el caso del rostro y el pecho, utilicé un color piel con tono amarillento y oscurecí las zonas del borde del cabello, las orejas y la parte baja del cuello.

To color the kimono, I used olive green, which, although not the exact shade used by Zoro, was the only compatible green left if I wanted to avoid using the same colors as the hair. For the rest of the clothing, I used dark gray on the appendage that borders the arm, red on the waist sash, and two shades of dark brown for the boots.

Para colorear el kimono utilicé un verde olivo que, si bien no es el tono exacto del que usa Zoro, era el único verde compatible que quedaba si quería evitar utilizar los mismos colores del cabello. Para el resto de la ropa empleé un gris oscuro en el apéndice que le bordea el brazo, un rojo en el fajín de la cintura y dos tonos de carmelita oscuro para las botas.

I left the swords for last, and although the size and shape weren't quite right, I made sure to use colors that were roughly accurate. For the Wado Ichimonji, a white and gold hilt with a light gray scabbard. For Yubashiri, a black and gray hilt with a dark gray scabbard. And finally, Enma, which is the replacement for Shusui, has a black and red hilt and is stored in a wine-red sheath.

Once I'm done with the swords, I'll create a gray shadow on the floor, giving the drawing a more interesting look and adding the finishing touch.

Para el final dejé las espadas y aunque el tamaño y forma no fueron los correctos, me aseguré de utilizar los colores aproximadamente reales. Para la Wado Ichimonji, una empuñadura blanca y dorada con una funda gris clara. Para Yubashiri, una empuñadura negra y gris con una vaina gris oscura. Y por último, Enma, que es el reemplazo de Shusui, la cual posee una empuñadura negra y roja y se guarda en una vaina de color rojo vino.

Una vez termine con las espadas, crearé una sombra en el suelo de color gris, dando así un aspecto más interesante al dibujo y de paso añadiendo el toque final a este.
