This is more than a Nollywood film, it is one that had me rolling on the floor with tears in my eyes, for its wild and hilarious twist. If you're in for a movie that will have you laughing your ribs out while still making you think, this is it, then this is it.

From one of Nollywood's finest actresses, Lizzy Gold, comes this drama rooted in warfare. Starring Lizzy Gold Onuwaje, Emeka Eze, Oluchi Chiana, the movie belongs to the genre of Comedy, Faith Drama, Spiritual Conflict and is produced and directed by Lizzy Gold herself.

Plot Summary;

Tuoyo(Lizzy Gold) hails from a bloodline tied to “Agbara”, a powerful ancestral deity with whom her grandmother made a pact, in desperation. Having lost many of her children, she sought protection and preservation from the diety. The deal? Agbara would preserve her lineage—if her descendants served the deity faithfully.

But Tuoyo rebelled and refused to have any of it, she had already chosen to serve Brother J.

She’s ordained as a pastor—but not the calm, sweet, tambourine-shaking type. She has a "prison" for sinners, forcing people to convert with holy aggression, and to achieve her aim, she goes around carrying a "Gun." Her extreme ways earned her a lot of criticisms from different quarters, expulsion from her church… and a cult followership.

When her grandmother dies and the spiritual baton is passed to her, she rejects the mantle, boldly pledging allegiance to Brother J(as she fondly calls Jesus).

All hell breaks loose. Tuoyo is harassed spiritually by her ancestors and Agbara herself.

Her faith is tested severely. Will she succumb to the pressure from the deity or will she stand firmly with Brother J?

Overview;

This drama rooted in warfare proves beyond all reasonable doubt that Lizzy Gold is indeed a goddess of the screen. She delivers a career-defining performance, not as the polished preacher we all know or would expect, but as a militant, gun-toting one. This honestly becomes the central joke and strength of the story.

Performance Review;

Lizzy Gold as Pastor Tuoyo is a storm in a suit, believe me. She gives a show-stealing performance filled with comedic timing, expressive monologues, and bursts of righteous rage. Her body language alone is enough to make you laugh, even in serious moments.

What makes Rugged Pastor unique is the beautiful blend of spiritual warfare with satire, which still delivers a powerful moral takeaway: you cannot fight spiritual battles with physical weapons or madness.

The tone is both serious and hilarious, a rare balance Nollywood is beginning to master in modern faith comedies.

Standout Scenes🔥

This is a scene from YouTube

Tuoyo threatens to shoot a man burying a charm on the brother's piece of land.

The moment she reveals to the police officer who'd arrested her because of her militant ways, of his wife's infidelity.

The moment she danced her heart out during a church service.

Her confrontation with the ancestral spirits of the deity, taking it to be a physical battle.

My final Verdict;

Delightfully Chaotic!

“Rugged Pastor” is refreshing, rib-cracking, and thought-provoking. It tackles serious spiritual themes with a heavy dose of comedy and realism. Lizzy Gold’s role of Tuoyo is unforgettable—a woman of faith, fire, and far too much force..... hahaha .Whether you agree with her style or not, one thing is sure: she’s on a mission, and "Agbara" had better watch out.🤭

I'm giving this movie a rating of 8.5 / 10
