En esta nueva entrega, quiero contarles sobre un viaje que hicimos, mi niño, mi esposa y yo, a casa de la familia, en El Entronque de San Luis. En esta ocasión, nuevamente fuimos en el triciclo de su tío Jorge. Él, siempre que tiene un viaje para allá, nos convida.
Oportunidad de viaje que, a decir verdad, se aprovecha, porque el transporte para esa carretera está muy malo, aunque bueno, la cosa es generalizada para todos lados Ese día nos levantamos bien temprano en la mañana y nos preparamos para cuando tío Jorge llegara, no tuviera que esperar por nosotros. Eduardo, mi niño, estaba de lo más animado, porque le ha agarrado el gusto a estos viajes rumbo a casa de la abuela de Mariolis.
Y no es para menos, aquel lugar es acogedor, mucho espacio para jugar, también hay muchachos que rondan más o menos la edad de mi niño y con ellos juega siempre que vamos. Pero qué cabeza la mía, no les he dicho que fuimos a una actividad, sí, así es, la familia de Mariolis del Entronque, no pierde la oportunidad de reunirse y pasarla bien.
Pero esta vez, celebraban la llegada de una prima de Mariolis, que había venido de los Estados Unidos. Es la costumbre, siempre que llega alguien de la familia de visita. Creo que es la segunda o la tercera vez que viene a Cuba, desde qué entré a este el círculo familiar y en esta ocasión fue que la conocí finalmente. Cuando llegamos al Entronque, primero entramos por casa de la abuela de Mariolis y allí estuvimos un rato compartiendo con ella.
Hasta que, de sorpresa, llegó la homenajeada en un automóvil y luego de un rato charlando, comenzó a cargar con los familiares que pudo llevarse para su casa, en donde era la actividad. Nosotros fuimos caminando, ya que el lugar está bastante cerca de la casa de la abuela. Era la primera vez que visitaba la casa de Noel, otro de los tíos de Mariolis, el más ocurrente, porque siempre está haciendo bromas.
Al llegar, nos encontramos con que, en aquella casa, no cabía un alma más; creo que casi todos estaban allí. Entre amigos y familiares, se disfrutaba de un buen ambiente, había música y la mesa del dominó estaba en su punto. Pensar que a mí el dominó no me llama tanto la atención; sin embargo, como se juega por acá, es toda una tradición en cada actividad el plantar una mesa de dominó y dale.
Las mujeres se reunieron a conversar en la sala de la casa, los hombres en la terraza, en donde estaba la mesa del dominó y su buen ron cubano, "Habana Club". Otra de las cosas que a mí no me llama tanto la atención es el ron, lo tomo solo cuando no hay más remedio, aunque tampoco soy muy bebedor de alcohol. Pero la cerveza sí me gusta, toda la que me den, mucho más si está bien fría.
Pasaron algunas horas bastante animadas, para luego comenzar a repartir el almuerzo. Del que hay que decir que estaba muy bueno todo, especialmente el lechón asado 😋🤤 que desde que llegamos estaba dando olor por todo aquello. Caída la tarde y luego de un aguacero que por lo menos refrescó la temperatura, todos fuimos regresando a nuestros hogares. Fue un día en que la pasamos bien con la familia y del que me llevo una bonita experiencia.

In this new installment, I want to tell you about a trip that my son, my wife, and I took to visit family in El Entronque de San Luis. On this occasion, we once again traveled in his uncle Jorge's tricycle. Whenever he has a trip there, he invites us along.
To tell the truth, we take advantage of this opportunity to travel because the transportation on that road is very bad, although, well, that's the case everywhere. That day, we got up very early in the morning and got ready so that when Uncle Jorge arrived, he wouldn't have to wait for us. Eduardo, my son, was very excited because he has grown to love these trips to Mariolis' grandmother's house.
And no wonder, that place is cozy, with lots of space to play, and there are also kids around my son's age who he always plays with when we go. But what was I thinking? I haven't told you that we went to an event. Yes, that's right, Mariolis' family in El Entronque never misses an opportunity to get together and have a good time.
But this time, they were celebrating the arrival of one of Mariolis' cousins, who had come from the United States. It's a tradition whenever someone from the family comes to visit. I think this is the second or third time she has come to Cuba since I joined this family circle, and this time I finally got to meet her. When we arrived at El Entronque, we first went to Mariolis' grandmother's house and spent some time there with her.
Then, to our surprise, the guest of honor arrived in a car, and after chatting for a while, she began to gather up the family members she could take with her to her house, where the party was being held. We walked there, since it is quite close to Grandma's house. It was my first time visiting the house of Noel, another of Mariolis' uncles, the wittiest one, because he is always joking around.
When we arrived, we found that there was no room for another soul in that house; I think almost everyone was there. Friends and family enjoyed a good atmosphere, there was music, and the domino table was set up. I don't find dominoes that interesting, but since it's played here, it's a tradition at every gathering to set up a domino table and play.
The women gathered to chat in the living room, while the men were on the terrace, where the domino table and good Cuban rum, "Habana Club," were. Another thing that doesn't really appeal to me is rum. I only drink it when I have no choice, although I'm not much of a drinker anyway. But I do like beer, as much as they'll give me, especially if it's nice and cold.
We spent a few lively hours together, and then it was time to serve lunch. I have to say that everything was very good, especially the roast suckling pig 😋🤤, which had been filling the air with its aroma since we arrived. As evening fell and after a downpour that at least cooled the temperature, we all returned to our homes. It was a day we enjoyed with the family and one that I will remember as a wonderful experience.
