Para la primera semana de competencia, Vegueros de Pinar del Río lucía un discreto 11no puesto en la tabla de posiciones, mientras que su rival de turno se encontraba de líder indiscutible. Esta subserie tampoco sonrió a favor de los Vegueros, quienes cedieron 3-2 nuevamente ante un rival que se vio superior.
