My name is Evelyne Gilles. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, teacher, and author. Born in Guadeloupe, French West Indies, the youngest in a family of five siblings I spent my early childhood in the care of my Grandmother.
At age 6, my father made the life-changing decision to move my 4 siblings and me to Paris France for a better education. At age 11, to escape my stepmother’s cruelty, I was sent to Brooklyn New York to live with an aunt.
My nomadic childhood and experiences taught me the value of community and mentorship in building essential life skills for teens and young adults. This led me to seek a career in education as a Modern Foreign Language teacher and Special Educational Need Coordinator in London Secondary Schools while qualifying as a Cognitive Behavioral Hypnotherapist, setting up my practice, and working on my first book. ‘Alpha Teen – Millennial Parent’.

In 2012 I lobbied the UK Government on the problems of youth knife crime which affected the lives of many of my students. I share my knowledge and experience through online parenting groups and am available as a guest speaker on Podcasts. A track and field athlete, gymnast, ballet dancer, piano player, and singer, I regularly performed as a soprano with the Goldsmiths College Sinfonia & Chorus. I inherited my love for music from my musician father and regularly start each day performing Mozart, J.S Bach, and Chopin’s “piano meditation”, during the golden hour of sunrise.
