When I photographed Francisco, he wasn't very keen on being photographed. When I saw him, I had the certainty that I could take some photos that I would like, and because of this, I insisted on photographing him, so he agreed.
>Cuando fotografié a Francisco, él no tenía muchas ganas de ser fotografiado. Al verlo, yo tuve la certeza de que podría hacerle unas fotos que me gustaran y por esto le insistí para fotografiarlo, así que accedió.
He really liked the photos. Sometimes it happens like that, like with Francisco: I feel something inside me that tells me that I'm surely going to get a photo that I like. I'm not sure why it happens, but I imagine it's a kind of intuition that, as a photographer, lets me know without the need to rationalize it, and I'm very happy when it happens.
>A él le gustaron mucho las fotos. A veces sucede así, como con Francisco: siento algo dentro de mí que me dice que con seguridad voy a tener una foto que me guste. No estoy seguro por qué ocurre, pero me imagino que es una especie de intuición que como fotógrafo me hace saberlo sin necesidad de racionalizarlo, y me contenta mucho cuando sucede.
Portraits never stop being a way of communicating with another person. For me to communicate with myself, it seems there is more to it than I can understand. Maybe I should make an audio record of them so I can scratch a little more at what happens to me when I take them.
