Hello, Hivers. Good day to everyone. I'm @**eijnuj06**, and I'd like to share my basketball experience.
Basketball is more than a sport in the Philippines; it is a way of life. There are many basketball courts in the streets of the Philippines. We Filipinos are incredibly passionate about the sport, despite our small average height. Some gifted Filipinos are fortunate to be tall due to genetics, but the majority of us average about 5'4 in height. Same with me I'm a short player, I' m only 5'4.
But first, let me tell you about when I first started playing basketball. My father introduced me to basketball at a young age; I believe I was only six years old when he taught me. Until I come to appreciate and enjoy the game. I always participated in barangay leagues or visited other barangay courts on a daily basis to play basketball betting game. I want to play in a higher league, but because of my stature and height, I put my goals aside and focus on my education.
I graduated as a Customs and passed the board exam to become a Licensed Customs Broker and already found a job. I didn't know that there was a Basketball Club in the Bureau of Customs here in Cebu, the ABCC **(ADUANA BASKETBALL CLUB-CEBU)**. Until one of my coworkers said that the basketball club was hosting a Friendship Cup and that if we registered for that, we would be included in the drafting of players.
So I got Drafted by a basketball **Team BP9** And it was year 2022. This is my first basketball squad, and this team exceed the expectations. Yes I only have limited minutes on the court, I guess I generally played throughout the event an average length of 6 minutes. But in that limited time I make sure that I can contribute and have an instant impact when the coach call my name. This squad was unbeatable; we swept the elimination rounds, advanced to the finals, and won the championship without losing a single game.
In 2023, I was with a new squad, **Team PALO** , unlike the previous season, my playing time increased, but we were unable to make the playoffs due to our worst win-loss record; yet, I am glad for the experience and opportunity to play.
Year 2024, I was with another squad again, **Team PRM**, similar with previous season I earned my minutes already and I have longer playing time. But we simply finished 4th place in the tournament since we are beaten in the semifinals and fought for 3rd.
Year 2025, I'm back with **Team BP9**, the team that give me championship in my first year. Same with my first year my playing time again is limited, I roughly play and average playing time just of 8-10 minutes a game. We were undefeated throughout the elimination round, and we had a twice-to-beat advantage against our opponent in the quarterfinals due to higher seeding, but we lost the first game and fortunately won Game 2 to advance to the Semifinals. But we lost in the semifinals and did not go to the finals. We won the battle for third place.
I'm hoping next year I will join again the ABCC FRIENDSHIP CUP LEAGUE and hoping for a new squad with a new coach who will trust me and providing me more playing time. Basketball is more than simply a game for me, it's part of my existence.
