Si hay algo que me encanta de las plantas orientales, además de sus colores llamativos como rosado fuerte y lila, es que florecen en invierno, cuando todos los arboles ya están pelados y sin hojas, aparecen estas pequeñas, pero muy llamativas flores que decoran al oscuro invierno con su magnífico color. Tal es el caso del **Membrillero Japonés** que tenemos en mi jardín, esta flor aparece a mediados del invierno y junto con la **Clivia** llenan de color el ambiente frívolo del invierno.

Esta planta la tenemos desde que tengo memoria y a pesar de que mi abuelo siempre la poda, nunca deja de florecer y siempre lo hace para estas fechas. Las flores comenzaron a aparecer un poco antes de finalizar el otoño, pero eran una o dos aisladas y no aparecían más flores hasta dentro de varias semanas, así que tuve que esperar varios días para poder verlo repleto de flores y eso acaba de suceder hace unos pocos días. De la nada comenzaron a brotar muchos pimpollos y esa era la clara señal de que la temporada del **Membrillero Japonés** había comenzado.

We've had this plant for as long as I can remember, and even though my grandfather always prunes it, it never stops blooming, and it always does so around this time. The flowers began to appear shortly before the end of autumn, but they were just one or two isolated ones, and more wouldn't appear for several weeks, so I had to wait several days to see it bursting with blossoms, and that just happened a few days ago. Out of nowhere, many buds began to sprout, and that was a clear sign that **Japanese Quince** season had begun.

Generalmente florecen de a varios pimpollos en una misma rama, pero nunca falta la flor solitaria que quiere lucirse a sí misma y son esas las que puedo enfocar un poco mejor con la cámara para que puedan contemplar muy bien su forma y ese color rosado bien fuerte que tiene. Resalta en donde quiera que este, se puede apreciar ese rosa fuerte desde la distancia y se ve completamente hermosa en un área donde no hay casi verde, creo que de ahí viene su encanto, al florecer cuando ya ninguna planta tiene hojas verdes, es ideal para decorar un jardín durante el invierno.

Creo que no fui la única que estuvo esperando a que floreciera, al parecer hay un insecto que se alimenta de ella y le deja agujeros en sus pétalos, como pueden ver en la última foto. Cuando fui a fotografiarla, ya habían atacado a varias flores y nunca supe qué clase de insecto se alimenta de ellas, quizá es uno muy pequeño o que solo aparece cuando nadie está viendo, la cuestión es que las encontré ya así apenas florecieron y tuve que ser más rápida que ellos para capturar alguna flor que no haya sido agujereada, cosa que logre.

I don't think I was the only one waiting for it to bloom. Apparently, there's an insect that feeds on it and leaves holes in its petals, as you can see in the last photo. When I went to photograph it, they had already attacked several flowers, and I never knew what kind of insect feeds on them. Maybe it's a very small one, or one that only appears when no one is looking. The thing is, I found them as soon as they bloomed, and I had to be faster than them to capture a flower that hadn't been pierced, which I managed to do.

Mi idea era fotografiar el arbusto con todas sus flores ya abiertas, pero ese insecto que les mencione tiene otros planes y al ser sincera, no luce muy bonita con todos esos pétalos agujereados y devorados, así que me limite a fotografiar de cerca algunas flores sin tanto daño y el arbusto en sí, pero repleto de pimpollos y alguna que otra flor atacada por ese insecto. Supongo que algún día descubriré quien es el autor del crimen o quizá en esta comunidad haya alguien que sepa quién es o le paso algo similar, si es así, me gustaría que me lo compartieran en los comentarios.

My idea was to photograph the bush with all its flowers already open, but that insect I mentioned has other plans and to be honest, it doesn't look very pretty with all those pierced and devoured petals, so I limited myself to close-up photographs of some flowers without much damage and the bush itself, but full of buds and the occasional flower attacked by that insect. I suppose that one day I will discover who committed the crime is or perhaps in this community there is someone who knows who it is or something similar happened to them. En fin, pienso que aun con esos agujeros puede lucirse su belleza y vibrante color, me encantan las flores con colores brillantes y en mi jardín tenemos varias así y Buhito lo sabe. Estas últimas fotos que ven aquí las tomé hace un par de días, ví que el **Membrillero Japonés** había abierto los pimpollos que le quedaban y lucía tan hermosa que quise añadir un párrafo más al post para que puedan apreciar como luce cuando todos sus pimpollos ya han abierto sus pétalos. Aún tiene algunos pocos por florecer y algunas hojas verdes que aún no se han caido, pero creo que ya está en su máximo esplendor y no quería perder la oportunidad de fotografiarlo cuando estaba completamente pintado de rosa y sin importar que algunas flores están agujereadas, podemos seguir disfrutando de la belleza que nos ofrece la naturaleza.

--- I took these last photos you see here a couple of days ago. I saw that the **Japanese quince** had opened its remaining buds and looked so beautiful that I wanted to add another paragraph to the post so you can appreciate how it looks when all its buds have opened their petals. It still has a few buds left to bloom and some green leaves that haven't fallen yet, but I think it's already at its peak and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to photograph it when it was completely painted pink. Even though some of the flowers have holes in them, we can still enjoy the beauty that nature offers us.
