# [EN] As I approached the top of the mountain, I noticed some rocks piled up in certain sections of the path. At first, I thought they were the graves of people who had died in the Itabaiana Mountains, but soon after, I saw a small chapel, which led me to imagine that it might be related to the pilgrimage of the faithful. So, I asked the guide, and he confirmed that, in the past, devotees used to walk the mountain trail as a form of devotion and penance for their sins. He explained that, in the old days, the pilgrimage route had fifteen stations in the mountains alone, where the faithful would stop, pray, and then continue to the top. Unlike us, they followed an easier path, without including the waterfalls. Currently, the route is simpler, not reaching the top of the mountain and remaining only at the base, since it starts in other cities. Every year, especially during Holy Week, thousands of people participate in the pilgrimages and go to fulfill their promises. Nowadays, the pilgrimages are dedicated to Santa Dulce dos Pobres, attracting faithful from all parts of the state. As I mentioned, people no longer climb to the top of the mountain due to the large number of participants. In the last edition, held this year, more than 15,000 people were present. De imediato, pensei que fossem túmulos de pessoas que haviam falecido na Serra de Itabaiana, mas logo adiante avistei uma pequena capela, o que me levou a imaginar que pudesse estar relacionado à peregrinação de fiéis. Então, perguntei ao guia, e ele confirmou que, no passado, os devotos realizavam a trilha da serra como forma de devoção e pagamento de seus pecados. Ele explicou que antigamente o percurso de peregrinação contava, somente na serra, com quinze estações, onde os fiéis paravam, rezavam e depois prosseguiam até o topo. Diferente de nós, eles seguiam por um caminho mais leve, sem incluir as cachoeiras. Atualmente, o trajeto é mais simples, não chegando até o topo da serra e permanecendo apenas na base, já que começa em outras cidades. Todos os anos, especialmente na Semana Santa, milhares de pessoas participam das romarias e vão pagar promessas. Nos dias de hoje, as peregrinações são dedicadas a Santa Dulce dos Pobres, atraindo fiéis de todas as partes do estado. Como mencionei, já não se sobe mais ao topo da serra devido à grande quantidade de participantes. Na última edição, realizada este ano, mais de 15 mil pessoas estiveram presentes.
