In these photos I want to show you a spider that I haven't seen in my garden for quite some time.
En estas fotos les quiero mostrar una araña que tenía bastante tiempo sin ver en mi jardín.
I was glad to find it again and it was difficult to photograph its more colorful side.
Me alegró encontrarla de nuevo y fue dificil fotografiar su lado más colorido.
Trying to do it I accidentally tripped over it, it moved and I could see its yellow side.
Intentando hacerlo la tropecé sin querer, se movió y pude ver su lado color amarillo.
It also had six dark spines.
También tenía seis espinas oscuras.
It returned to its initial position and, once again, I only saw its ventral side.
Volvió a su posición inicial y, otra vez, sólo veía su cara ventral.
Days later I realized I could reach across the net, so I switched the camera to front-facing and shot from behind, but the image was blurry.
Días más tarde me di cuenta de que podía pasar mi mano hacia el otro lado de la red, cambié la cámara a frontal y fotografié desde atrás, pero su imágen quedó borrosa.
I later discovered I could safely cross to the other side of the net. I did so, taking advantage of the opportunity to capture images from other angles.
Después descubrí que podía pasar de manera segura al otro lado de la tela. Lo hice y aproveché de hacer capturas desde otros ángulos.
This is a Gasteracantha cancriformis, also called "jewel spider", "baker spider", "spiny spider" and "soldier spider".
Se trata de una Gasteracantha cancriformis, también llamada "Araña joya", "araña panadera", "araña espinosa " y "araña soldado".
Its net features estabilimentos which are discontinuous, but more visible, thickened parts whose function is believed to be, among others, to serve as signals to warn other animals of its presence.
Su tela presenta estabilimentos que son partes engrosadas discontinuas mas visibles cuya función se cree sea, entre otras, de servir de señales para advertir a animales grandes de su presencia.
This spider has a life cycle of approximately one year and is widely distributed in America.
Esta araña tiene un ciclo de vida de aproximadamente un año y tiene amplia distribución en América.
