Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you all have a day so far which is full of interesting experiences! In this article I would like to share something about the history of Switzerland and am happy if you are able to expand your knowledge.
For a long time, craftsmanship and mills dominated Switzerland in the past and a large part of the country was used for agricultural purposes and over time traders began to sell the manufactured goods out of the country. A basis of industrial development was created with it and those who know Switzerland, know that the people did not focus on high quantity, but quality of products and this was not different in the past and the products from this area were already considered rare but of high quality and during the time of industrialisation in the 19th century, many things changed and new markets were opened. Unlike in other countries, there was a lack of some raw materials here, which led to strong restrictions, but should not lead to an end to the economy but a redistribution of resources and the Swiss have begun to develop technologies which were considered particularly precise and unique and among the most important branches that were developed during this time were watches, machines or chemical products.
Over time, the silent voice became more and more the market leader in various areas and this was also the moment when it was time to expand and more companies decided to move their production to other countries, which opened completely new doors, which resulted in many of the branches becoming global corporations. A major key of the Swiss economy comes from this industrial heritage and especially when it comes to innovations, Switzerland is far above in the global ranking and even when it comes to the protection of nature, the country stands out from others and has decided to attach particular importance to climate-friendly growth. Another important point are the hundreds of thousands of jobs that are filled and about 10% of all employed work for the industry and very important for the business is the export of goods to other countries and even if the industry is small compared to others, the yields are very high but the industry has also to struggle with problems.
Especially in industry there is such a high competition and if Switzerland on the one hand has changed the production to other countries, on the other there is simply the pressure to remain competitive and some branches of industry are strongly dependent on other countries. Pharmaceutical companies such as Roche or Novartis obtain a large part of the active ingredient that are necessary for the production from countries such as China or India and even when it comes to exports there are some hurdles and a large factor is also the lack of labour in many areas of industry. Despite its size, Switzerland is one of the most powerful countries in industry and even if there are enormous problems in many areas, it's an industry that values the quality of the products and has made a name for itself with innovations in many areas and it is not without reason that Swiss products stand for quality.
