Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you are all doing well and you have a week which is full of positive experiences! In my new post I would like to share an experience I had while travelling and I am happy if you like the post.
When I was visiting the artistic village of Murnau in Bavaria, I decided to visit the house of the well-known artist Gabriele Münter, which is one of the most important landmarks of the town. It's not the first time that I visit the house of an artist and I find these moments particularly interesting to be able to empathise more in the life and to see in what atmosphere they have lived and this already says a lot about the creation of works of art and it also goes even further and shows the facets behind the art. Especially in this house huge art history was written and it is considered one of the hotspots when it comes to the emergence of the well-known art movement The Blue Rider which has changed the entire art world. Gabriele Münter and the Blue Rider were particularly influential when it comes to European expressionism and during her lifetime it was generally not so common for women to be artists and she has set an example in this respect and was a role model for many female artists or women's rights in general.
I personally find these places sometimes more meaningful than museums when it comes to the life of the artists and often the objects such as furniture are arranged as it was during their lifetime and the houses remain unchanged and the entire understanding of the way the artists lived or worked is improved in every respect and makes art alive in its own way. Especially the house of Gabriele Münter is located in a unique environment and is surrounded by mountains or other scenic highlights and it is not surprising that this place has delivered many inspirations when people only have to look out the window to experience a breathtaking landscape.
The artist bought the house itself in 1909 and together with her husband Wassily Kandinsky, who was also an influential artist, she lived here for a few years and especially often the two stayed here during the summer and inspiration was not only found in the house, but also in the exterior in which a natural garden can be found. Many well-known paintings were created here and later the house was handed over to a foundation and even if the museum is as authentically furnished as possible and is full of original pieces, it was later renovated again. The visit did not last so long and the house itself can be visited in about 30 minutes while the garden also takes additional time and with a few Euros of admission, the price is just fair for everything that can be seen here and for every visitor to the town a visit here is an absolute must.
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new and like my post! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens and iPhone 16.
