En los años que llevo viendo deporte, o bueno el que me brinda la magia de la televisión cubana, estuve acostumbrado a ver esas grandes figuras del atletismo cubano de antaño. Que tantas glorias nos dieron a Cuba desde que veo las lides mundialistas en el año 1983.
Hemos tenido representantes en todas las ediciones del orbe, en donde hemos tenido medallistas en casi todas las que hemos participado.

Este mundial no ha sido la excepción, y en esta edición del 2025, con sede en Tokyo hemos tenido un resultado a mi entender positivo. Además de que nuestros atletas, amén de que hayan tenido una buena preparación o no, siempre sacan la estirpe en las principales competencias.
Ejemplo de lo antes mencionado, es el triplista guantanamero Lázaro Martínez, quien no llegó como favorito a medallas, y tuvo su mejor competencia del año. Con salto de 17.49 en su segundo intento, se mantuvo firme hasta que, el italiano Dellavalle lo desplazó a la definitiva tercera plaza.

Por increíble que parezca, es la tercera medalla mundial de Lazarito, 1 de ella fue el oro bajo techo que ganó en el año 2022, además de la plata en la edición precedente de Budapest 2023. Sin lugar a dudas, ha demostrado que es completamente un atleta de competencia, y sabe batirse en el evento grande con los mejores del mundo.
Entre esos mejores se incluye un cubano, Pedro Pablo Pichardo, quien fuera subcampeón del mundo hace 12 años, cuando aún era un joven veinteañero. En esta ocasión, Pichardo representó a Portugal y se llevó el oro con salto de 17.91.

Lazarito closes Cuban performance at the World Athletics Championships.
In the years I have been watching sports, or rather the magic that Cuban television brings me, I have been accustomed to seeing those great figures of Cuban athletics from yesteryear who brought so much glory to Cuba since I started watching world competitions in 1983. We have had representatives in every edition of the world championships, where we have had medalists in almost all the ones we participated in.
This championship has been no exception, and in this 2025 edition, held in Tokyo, we have had what I consider a positive result. Despite whether our athletes had good preparation or not, they always showcase their spirit in major competitions.
An example of this is the triple jumper from Guantánamo, Lázaro Martínez, who did not arrive as a favorite for medals but delivered his best performance of the year. With a jump of 17.49 meters on his second attempt, he held firm until the Italian Dellavalle displaced him to the definitive third place.
