How K-Dramas Made Me Fall in Love with Korean Culture

I’ve always loved movies. That’s one thing about me. But I never imagined that my love for movies would lead me to discover an entirely different culture. Honestly, if not for K-Dramas, I probably wouldn’t know much about Korea today.

It all started with my sister. She’s a big fan of K-Dramas, and at first, I didn’t pay much attention. I would see her watching and sometimes laugh at how glued she was to the screen. One day, she told me to sit with her and watch an episode. I didn’t plan to, but I gave it a try because I was curious to know what kept her so interested.

That was the beginning for me. From the first drama, I was hooked. The storyline felt fresh and emotional, very different from what I was used to. The actors were so good at expressing feelings, and the whole vibe of the drama was just unique. I remember thinking, So this is why people love K-Dramas so much.

The more I watched, the more I started noticing little things about Korean culture, their greetings, their respect for elders, the way they talk, even their fashion. It wasn’t just about watching a show anymore; it became a way of learning about their way of life without even leavin my room.

I even started picking up small words like annyeong for hello and gomawo for thank you. It felt exciting to learn a new language bit by bit just from watching something I enjoyed.

And then there’s the food. Every time I see them eat kimchi or bibimbap in those dramas, it makes me want to try it too. They make their meals look so special, and honestly, I hope I get to taste real Korean food someday.

What I really love about K-Dramas is that they go beyond ntertainment. Most of the stories talk about family, friendship, love, and never giving up. They leave you thinking and sometimes even inspire you in real life.

So yes, thanks to my sister and my love for movies, I discovered Korea in the most interesting way. I’ve not been there yet, but it’s now on my bucket list. Until then, I will keep enjoying the stories that opened this new world for me.
