Everyone has a place where they feel most at peace, and for me, that place is the church. I attend El-Bethel Church of Christ, and honestly, there’s no other place where my heart finds rest the way it does when I step into the house of God. It’s not just about the building itself, but about the presence, the fellowship, and the feeling of belonging that comes when I’m surrounded by people of faith.

I am also part of the Youth Unification Fellowship in Lagos State University (LASU), and I can say without doubt that those moments with other young people, praying and praising God together, are some of my most treasured times. Being in the midst of fellow youths who share the same passion for Christ gives me so much joy. It’s more than just a gathering, it feels like a family.
Whenever I walk into church, whether on a Sunday service or during a youth fellowship meeting, I feel a wave of peace sweep over me. The stress, worries, and noise of the outside world fade away, and all that remains is this calmness that cannot be explained. I could have had a rough week, but once I join others in singing praises, lifting hands, and praying, my heart feels lighter. That’s the comfort I don’t find anywhere else.
Some people might find comfort in quiet places, or even while traveling, but for me, it’s the sound of voices raised together in worship that gives me life. Hearing other youths cry out to God, seeing the joy on their faces when we sing, and feeling that shared energy is something I cherish deeply. It reminds me that I’m not walking this journey of faith alone.
What makes it even more special is the bond that comes with being in fellowship. We laugh together, encourage one another, and also challenge ourselves to grow spiritually. The unity in diversity among us shows the true beauty of God’s family. No matter our backgrounds or personal struggles, once we come together before God, it feels like everything else fades away.
The church has become more than a religious space for me, it’s my safe space. It’s where I can pour out my heart without shame, where I can dance in worship, where I can kneel in prayer and not feel judged. It’s where I find guidance, strength, and hope to keep pushing forward in life.
So when I say my place of comfort is the church, I mean every word. It is in the presence of God, surrounded by youths in fellowship, that I feel most alive and most at peace. And for me, that’s priceless.
