Hablemos de Autismo: Actualización de Diagnostico y Anexo [ESP-ENG]

Hace un tiempo que no hablo de Autismo por aquí y han pasado muchísimas cosas. Creo haberles mencionado que Amelie entró en una especie de Clínica TEA dentro del mismo hospital, donde a los niños que estén en ese programa les darán "prioridad". Antes de todo esto, ella estuvo durante el primer trimestre del año en valoración médica con 2 psicólogas para darle un nuevo diagnóstico más acertado a su edad y también un anexo, todo esto debe tener máximo un año, para que esos papeles puedan ser aceptados por las psicólogas de evaluación y trabajo social en otro Centro Médico, pero que es especialista en Rehabilitación y personas con discapacidad. Así que fue un largo proceso, para llegar al comienzo, ya que Amelie recibía sus primeras terapias y evaluaciones médicas justo en ese centro, llamado CERI.  Cuando la doctora me dió el diagnóstico yo estaba sola, me tocó esperar 4 horas en la sala de espera del hospital para recibirlo y cuando me lo dió la firma no valía, porque debía ser firma digital, así que me tocó ir otro día nuevamente y esperar 4 horas más, al entregarlo la firma salia al reves, la impresora estaba mal. Así que le pedí a la Dra que me lo enviara a mi correo para arreglar lo de la firma, tuve que venir a casa, imprimir correctamente y volver a ir otro día al hospital para que Gerencia le colocara el sello. Una vez logrado eso, me fui al otro extremo de la ciudad, al CERI, para introducir los papeles y que me dieran el certificado por discapacidad para así ir luego al Registro Civil y actualizar la cédula de Amelie y allí aparezca que es Autista. Bueno, no me dieron nada jajaja. Debía ir a un centro de salud o modulo barrial para que me dieran una referencia nuevamente y así ellos poderme dar cita 😡 (si vieron mis post anterior, ya ven por donde va lo del estrés reprimido jajaja). Hice todo, para esto pasaron varios días, pero logré tener la referencia. Fui nuevamente el martes a perdir cita para la evaluación y ayer jueves tuvimos la cita, ya nos dijeron que debía ir el lunes nuevamente para que me entreguen el certificado y así proceder con la cédula. ||| |-|-| ***¿Por qué hago todo esto y qué tan necesario es?*** El autismo no es una enfermedad. Pero si entra en discapacidad, porque ellos necesitan ayuda para hacer cosas o las hacen de manera diferente según sus habilidades. Al tener un grado de discapacidad en su cédula tiene derecho a descuentos, devolución del IVA y algunos otros beneficios como un Bono de Desarrollo Humano, que es de gran ayuda para las familias aún cuando no es mucho, pero sirve para costear alguna terapia o pañales. Además de esto, sirve para que en el Distrito Escolar tengan un aval de la condición de Amelie. La cédula y Visados le salen gratis y el pasaporte, así como otros documentos, a mitad de precio. ***¿Es una odisea?*** Si, porque cada cosa que mencioné requiere otro trámite y más citas y agendamientos, más recaudo y tiempos de espera. I had to come home, print it correctly, and then return to the hospital another day so the administration office could stamp it. > >Once that was done, I went to the other side of the city, to CERI, to submit the paperwork and request a disability certificate so I could then go to the Civil Registry and update Amelie's ID card to show that she is autistic. Well… they didn’t give me anything hahaha. I had to go to a local health center or neighborhood module to get a new referral so they could give me an appointment 😡 (if you saw my last post, now you see where all that repressed stress is coming from, haha). I did it all, and after a few days, I managed to get the referral. I went again on Tuesday to request the appointment for the evaluation, and yesterday, Thursday, we had the appointment. They told us to return on Monday to finally receive the certificate and then proceed with updating the ID. > >***Why am I doing all this and how necessary is it?*** > >Autism is not a disease. But it does fall under disability because children need support to do things or do them differently depending on their abilities. Having a disability rating on her ID entitles her to discounts, IVA refunds, and other benefits like the Human Development Bonus, which is a great help to families—even though it's not much, it helps cover a therapy session or diapers. On top of that, it serves as official proof of Amelie's condition for the school district. Her ID and visas are free, and passports and other documents are half price. > >***Is it an odyssey?*** > >Yes, because everything I mentioned requires additional paperwork, appointments, scheduling, collecting documents, and lots of waiting.
